Striking prints up to A2
Enjoy the ability to print striking, borderless images up to A2 without compromising quality. Take advantage of fast print speeds and colour accuracy: with a variety of media types supported – from gloss, matte, fine art papers and canvas – you’re guaranteed to get the look and feel you desire.
More detail and colour than before
With a new LUCIA PRO 12-ink system your images will be faithfully reproduced in print. A newly developed micro capsuled material for LUCIA PRO ink achieves higher levels of colour, with a broader colour gamut and more detail than before. A wide dynamic range of colours and detail in darker areas will help capture all the subtleties of your photography, from 4x6” prints right up to A2.
Improved light reflection and reduced bronzing
Canon's Chroma Optimizer ink technology helps to achieve uniform glossiness when printing on glossy paper. By being applied over the printed image Chroma Optimizer regulates the surface reflection to deliver natural colour reproduction in the finished print. This creates images with deep black density and prevents unwanted bronzing in your prints.
Superb Black and White Prints
You can produce fantastic black & white prints with neutral tones thanks to the LUCIA PRO ink system’s four dedicated monochrome inks – photo black, matt black, grey and photo grey.
Professional and functional design
The imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 printer inherits the red line from the EOS series – a symbol of exceptional quality. With a professional and functional design this desktop model is sure to inspire professional and amateur photographers alike. It features a rigid chassis to ensure accurate ink ejection and an additional manual feed tray lets you work with heavier paper types.
Increased efficiency for high volume use
Large capacity 80ml ink tanks reduce the need for frequent ink changes and a simple-to-replace maintenance cartridge increase efficiency for high volume print users. All 12 inks are easily loaded from the front of the printer and are housed behind a flip down cover.
Save ink and time
Exclusive matte black and photo black nozzles prevent wasting of ink and time when switching based on the media type being used.
Flexible settings and colour management
Canon’s Print Studio Pro plug-in features a new screen layout that makes it easier for you to adjust the printer, paper, layout and colour settings to help deliver the best quality prints. You can create favourite settings that you feel comfortable with and come back to them time and time again. Colour management is easier than ever, with a simple box to allow ICC profile selection, rendering intent and a brand new feature to enable soft proofing.
Updated Print Studio Pro plug-in
The Print Studio Pro plug-in is the perfect workflow link between your images and the finished print. The plug-in's new 'Contrast reproduction' feature delivers images with high detail to be printed with incredible sharpness and clarity.
Increased usability in the workflow
Improve your productivity and efficiency with wireless and Cloud connectivity. Simply download the Canon PRINT app on your iOS or Android device, or print via your PC or laptop’s Wi-Fi connection. On PictBridge compatible cameras you can even print directly via Wi-Fi.
Canon's 'Crystal-fidelity' workflow

This unique Canon input-output workflow allows users to edit and print their Canon EOS images, whilst retaining the original detail and clarity from when they were first captured.

Very easy to setup. Easy to use, fantastic print results. Simple paper feed, especially for fine art (thicker) paper using the manual tray.

Having used an Epson 3800 A2+ for many years I replaced it with the Canon Pro 1000. Both have large 80 ml ink cartridges which helps reduce printing costs. My reason for leaving Epson was that unlike the Canon, it wastes ink when switching between matte and gloss papers. Set up was an easy auto process although you need to download the driver if on a Mac. It takes about 50% of the ink just to fill the print head and also a device which agitates the ink before use (to stop any settlement in pigment inks). That is a one off consumption. The Canon has finer print nozzles than Epson and has a substantial auto self cleaning regime including before and after every print. Cleaning intervals are based on the time since it last printed. If not used for a month it apparently will need a 'deep clean' which apparently uses 58 ml of ink across the set of carts (£30 in total plus possible a new maintenance cart). In terms of consumption any advantage over the Epson in not flushing ink when changing media is probably lost because of its heavy auto cleaning. You can disable some of the auto cleaning and also leave it permanently switched on. There is a lot on the web about its consumption but the good news is that the printer's own read outs understate the amount left and it is possible to print many images before it needs actual replacements. There is a lot of software controlling printing including a default which needs a margin of 25 mm top and bottom on fine art papers (wasteful on an A4 saloon entry print). It is possible to override it once you know. The results are stunning both on matte and lustre, the later really benefit from the gloss optimiser. I find that using Canons equivalent canned profiles even on other brand papers are excellent. It seems so consistent that I have not needed to do as many test prints as in the past. Build quality is excellent and there is no mis cues of paper. Overall very impressed but perhaps costly a printer suited to being used every few days.

A comprehensively featured top of the range A2 printer. It produces stunning output on a variety of high grade papers that pass even the most detailed inspection. It only lacks a roll-feed that may impact those who produce panoramas or similar prints. It is built to last with a weight that requires 2 people to move it about but the results are worth the effort.
