Read Wilkinson Cameras Reviews

A 35mm full-frame format - This E-mount prime lens is designed to be used with α7 and α7R bodies for 35mm performance
A large F1.8 maximum aperture - Allows more light to reach the camera sensor, producing rich, high contrast pictures
Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* lens - Produces images in exceptional contrast and resolution with Carl Zeiss technology and a Sonnar T* anti-reflective coating
A 55mm fixed focal length - Capture images in sharp detail with a 'normal' prime lens. Enjoy a higher level of optical performance than most zooms
Minimise distortion - Aspherical lens elements ensures less internal reflection in a more compact design
Smooth and responsive focus - A linear motor driven internal focusing mechanism produces quick autofocus and reduces minimum focal distance
Shoot outdoors, rain or shine - Ideal for shooting in adverse weather conditions: critical areas of the lens exterior have been sealed against dust and moisture
Smooth, rounded defocusing - A 9 blade circular aperture delivers natural defocusing effects or 'bokeh'
A versatile shooting experience - The SEL-55F18Z is ideal for shooting landscapes, portraits and action shots. This bright lens can handle indoor or low-light shoots

Excellent lens for the Sony FF system. Amazingly sharp across the frame, and fast AF. Quite expensive compared to other ‘nifty-fifty’ f1.8 lenses, but I guess that’s the price you pay for Zeiss quality.

Ive found this lens a bit of a mixed bag - sharpness is amazing, you can get a nice sharp image at f/1.8 and (I suppose obviously) gets even sharper the more you stop it down. Sometimes on very bright whites there’s are some aberrations that can be quite obvious but can be compensated for. Now I’m not sure if it is the lens or the mirrorless camera as I’m new to mirrorless but I’m putting it down to the lens - the auto focus is absolutely terrible i was trying to focus on my mum’s black cat sat on the grass from just a couple of meters away and this lens could not get it, out of 5 shots not a single one is in focus. Luckily I prefer to use manual focus so its not much of a problem but disappointing none the less.
