“As advertised these tubes provide a good method of increasing the close up magnification of lenses whilst retaining the electronic connections to the camera. I particularly wanted to see if my 1990s vintage 1:2 magnification Tamron 90mm f2.5 could be made into a lifesize 1:1. This seems to work OK, but the mechanically driven autofocus does not get transmitted between the camera and the lens. However, for a macro lens this is not too major a drawback, as manual focus and/or adjusting the position of the camera is often the best method.”

“Although the connections are metal and feel sturdy enough so far, I am not sure that they will stand up to frequent use. The tubes are made of lightweight plastic, supported by metal connectors, again I am not sure that they will survive frequent use. I think that the tubes are overpriced for what they are, but they do the job and are cheaper than the OEM equivalents.”

“I have purchased sets of macro extension tubes over the years, the cheaper Chinese versions are OK for occasional use, but you have to pay for quality if used regularly.”
