I bought this printer primarily to print on 300gsm greeting card stock and printable DVDs. It does both without any problems. Quality is very good, although I do not print photos so this is not something I concern myself with. My only criticism so far are the feed trays. The main tray feels very flimsy and has to be removed to be refilled so you can't top it up during printing. The DVD tray has to be installed separately and is quite difficult to fit as you have to push it in with some force, not knowing how far it should go in and if you're going to damage anything. The small stock tray is also separate and fiddly to use.

our out five stars for the Epson EcoTank ET-8550 Printer. I wanted to give this very good printer five stars, I will explain why only four. Five stars go to Wilkinson Cameras for price and delivery and a complimentary box of FotoSpeed Matt Ultra, Thanks. Ease of use, not perfect (no printer is perfect), I did struggle to feed 5x7” photo paper through the rear feeder, A4 no problems, time and use will tell if this happens again. Quality, cannot fault it. Give yourself plenty of time to unpack and set up. Design, the front loading, and output trays clash somewhat, I’ve not found a way of retracting the auto output tray when a print cycle has started and you want to sort trays 1 and 2 out without canceling the print job. Value for Money, yes expensive £649.00 on offer so four stars (3-year warranty) with full ink (£14,99 x 6 = £89.94 420ml of ink) which equates to without ink at £559.06, other printers would be the other way around, cheap printer costly inks, but long term ink cost will be low so upfront not cheap. long-term huge savings on inks. It’s a shame that only one ink is pigment the other inks are dye but are vibrant and crisp. Long-term Epson claim “Claria (dye) - approximately 15 years before noticeable fading occurs”, which I find totally acceptable, so don’t worry too much offer your clients a free reprint if fading happens. Overall, I am very happy with this printer, I recommend the Et-8550, the print quality is excellent on photos, start with Epson papers to understand profiles and then use other papers with profiles to achieve lovely prints to be proud of.

I bought the Epson ET-8550 Printer with a little trepidation as whether the print quality would be as acceptable as on my Canon printer but need not have worried they are as good if not better also the black &white prints are fine and being Eco-Tank don't have to worry about the ink running out

Having read and watched several reviews about this printer I finally decided to invest in its purchase. I was very pleased with the printer for the following reasons 1. Small footprint. About the size of A3+ 2. Very cheap to run with the Eco Tank inks 3. Good reproductions. I will say that I have yet to successfully use the rear feeder. Also, apart from Epson paper suppliers have yet to provide online ICC profiles but as the printer becomes more successful that should change. I would recommend this printer to anyone
