Bring on the night. Stunning light sensitivity.
The fast EXPEED 5 processing engine ensures remarkable image quality across the ISO range. Fine noise is dramatically reduced and even cropped images shot at high ISO values retain their quality. The Hi 5 setting lets you shoot at an incredible ISO 1640000 (equivalent) and make the most out of available light.
Nail the details. Phenomenal subject recognition.
The camera’s 180K-pixel RGB metering sensor and Advanced Scene Recognition system combine to ensure you’ll get the shot—even when the scene involves smaller or fast-moving subjects. For high-contrast scenes, the new highlight-weighted metering will prioritise the brightest elements in the frame, and help you avoid images with blown-out highlights.
Stay sharp. Extreme AF precision.
Whatever you shoot, the 51-point AF system will track your subject, lock onto it, and keep it in focus; even if the only light is the moonlight. The AF system also boasts 15 central cross-type sensors, and is accurate all the way down to an impressive -3 EV. Group Area AF mode delivers enhanced subject detection and tracking when shooting subjects that are comparatively small and close to a high-contrast or distracting background.
Go cinematic. 4K/UHD video footage.
Shoot stunning 4K/UHD 30p footage, or record Full HD (1080p) video at frame rates up to 50p/60p. The camera offers clean HDMI out: you can even output uncompressed HDMI to an external device and the in-camera SD memory card simultaneously. You can optimise video for smart devices by recording in MP4 and AAC formats. And Nikon’s Electronic Vibration Reduction dramatically reduces the effects of camera shake when shooting Full HD movies handheld.
The moment is yours. 8 fps continuous shooting.
Never miss the moment that defines the event. Shoot up to approx. 8 fps for approx. 50 frames in 14-bit lossless compressed RAW. Or capture up to 100 frames in Large JPEG Fine during one high-speed burst. Full AF/AE tracking during continuous shooting ensures there’s no sacrificing precision for speed.
Angle the view. Tilt screen and touch controls.
The 8 cm (3.2 in) tilting monitor lets you operate AF and shutter-release functions via touch controls when you shoot in Live View. And the well-placed command dial and multi-selector make it easy to change settings as you shoot.
Go further. DX agility.
The D7500 boasts a deep grip that makes this camera feel like it’s an extension of your hand. You can keep shooting for extended periods on one battery charge. The high-performance shutter has been tested for 150,000 cycles. And the camera body is weather sealed to help prevent dust and water droplets from damaging the electronics.

Potentially a very good camera... I have had it for about a month now and whilst there are some issues, a tendency to underexposure and some setup issues, I feel that with time I will get used to it and get some great images. When set at full speed it shoots very fast indeed (8fps). Fantastic at high iso for night shots and Northern Lights. It is frustrating that unlike my previous D7100, there is no non-cpu lens facility which makes using some of my lenses more complex.

Having enjoyed my Nikon D90 for nine years, there were two reasons for getting a D7500. Firstly it was time for an update and secondly one of my daughters needed the D90 body as her son had dropped her own Nikon into a paddling pool. The D7500 has a range of advantages over the D90 and once the different ways of doing things was mastered is proving to be an excellent camera. Whether using the matrix exposure or single point there may be a tendency to produce an under exposure but this is still being evaluated.
