“I was really excited to undertake this ideal of composting to prevent food waste going to landfill and also to fill and start up my hot composter. Suffice to say as a two person household it took a while for us to fill our first bokashi box and when I had left it for the number of weeks required and draining the bolashi juice out I was horrified to see the airtight seal had fallen off the lid and an infestation of things I didn’t recognise.
I am concerned that in order for bokashi to ferment it needs to be in an anaerobic environment. And if the seal fall out the lid into the bokashi then you aren’t fulfilling that element of the process.
Needless to say I am quite disappointed with this at the moment and will have to reconsider whether forking out for this bokashi kit was a good idea or not.”
