“We bought this clock to hang in the garden to give the time when working outside and to give a quick way to tell the time from rooms in the house that face down the garden. As it was to hang on a black-painted shed situated 10m down the garden, the clock hands had to stand out against the background and the size had to be large enough to allow reading the time at a 10m distance. This was one of the few clocks I could find that had a white background to enhance the viewing of the clock hands and was, at around 600mm dia, large enough to be able to read easily. The operating mechanism is the same as thousands of other clocks - so tried and trusted. My only gripe is that the hanging mechanism is a keyhole opening to take a screw head. This works OK but my concern is that the clock is stated to be suitable for outdoor use, yet it does not seem to be secure enough to remain in place during a high wind. To overcome this I added a bracket on each side of the clock to hold it in place. I made these by cutting a copper 3/4" pipe bracket in half. Not too unsightly but a purpose-made fixing would be better.”
