“I am from Peru however I moved to US in 2001 and I currently live in Irvine California. I am 38 years old. I am currently working for Deloitte Tax LLP as a Tax Manager. While I love my work at Deloitte I always had the passion for teaching specially little kids. As a result I made the decision to take few months off from work and do a Sabbatical Program. I have been volunteering for 4 months in various countries and my last program was here in Shanghai. I volunteered at Creativity Kindergarten for 6 weeks. This was the most amazing experience I have ever had in live. I enjoyed teaching the kids at Kindergarten. They are about 4 to 5 years old. The kids were very sweet and I was able to get their love very quick. While I did not have the skills to teach I truly believe that love for kids make you do amazing things. We had fun with the kids learning English and singing together. I am very grateful for this experience and the names of the kids are sealed in my heart forever. I also enjoyed my stay in Shanghai I love the food the sightseeings and I also enjoyed meeting people from other countries/cultures. We had a good time at the flat and also taking the subway together. Those memories are also in my heart now. And because I love Shanghai so much I am planning to volunteer next year again. Lastly I have to thank the organization in Shanghai I feel they are my friends now and I want to keep in touch with them. Jane Athenna Summer Angel in Shanghai they were so nice to me and they helped me to have a great experience here in Shanghai. I will miss them but I know we have built a great friendship that will remain even we are so far from each other. I don’t want to say bye to Shanghai because I know I will come back in the near future. As a result I will say only “ SEE YOU SOON”. SHANGHAI YOU HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE!!!!!”

“The website was easy to use for the most part. The pre-departure booklet was useful maybe a reminder to pack light and to pick up small toiletries. Also info about staying abroad or going earlier. Information from previous groups and what they commonly did would have been helpful also. I really should have asked more questions before but the staff did a great job in answering what I did ask. I totally enjoyed my placement. I really enjoyed the experience but I expected and hoped to do a lot more work. I really wanted to remember a difference that I made whether it was plowing all day or really affecting a curriculum. I really liked the accommodation for the most part but I wish there was more info like there won't be elevators available. Also an idea on what food spending would be like. The in-country staff ?was very nice. Working at ?The elephant village was the highlight of my trip. You can also watch my review video here – VolSol is Thai for ‘life change’”

“I had an absolutely amazing time on the Thailand summer special beginning June 25th. The entire group absolutely adored our tour guides. Both of them did an amazing job the entire trip helping us adjust to the culture shock of Thailand and helping us learn and submerge ourselves in the culture.All of the VOLSOL staff here have been amazing and have really helped us get the full Thai experience. It’s difficult to include everything here so I have shared all my Thailand story on my personal blog.”

“I really like the website it is well designed and we know exactly what we have to do and what left. Pre-departure booklet is also very nice. It has every information that was needed for our preperation. Support staff Sahil is nice and help us for any of our requires. Our placement was so nice. The elephant camp is a peaceful place with so many nice people. I couldn't imagine it’s going to be this awesome. I learn a lot about my self and the Thai culture. Accommodation is really good we had a room for 4 with a lot of space. We had one bathroom to share and a kitchen to share too. There were some snack provided and lots of things to eat so it was really nice. The in-country support staff were so helpfull and nice. They are a really good team they are always there to help us in any situations. They help us to plan our trip to discover Thailand. They try to know more about us and it was a really good thing to meet them. The highlight of my trip is being with elephants and meeting thai people. It's an amazing experience that I really want to do again. I will never forget it. Thank you so much.”

“Information is easy to find on website and it looks very nice with all the pictures. Predeparture booklet is very helpful. Good information on the country. Support staff were very good always reply back very quickly no matter what your question or request is. I loved my placement. The kids were so much fun and the staff was really nice and helpful. I think the kids were very excited about us volunteers being there. And the staff at the project definitely appreciated us being there. Because they had more time to plan the lessons someone was there to do the yard work (they wouldn't be able to do all that on their own). Our accommodation was nice and clean. In a nice neighborhood. There was no food provided but there were are lot of really cheap and delicious places to eat traditional food close to the accommodation. The staff was always trying their best to help you with any problems you had. Helped us book weekend trips and even helped me change to a different project (elephant village) for my last week. The staff was also always friendly and helpful. I miss being at the elephant village and playing with the kids in the project. Keep up the good work!”

“It was easy to see everything on the website about your chosen program. I liked having the pre-departure booklet and was good to have before leaving for the program. The Staff was great. If I ever emailed I would always receive an email back helping me as they could and while on my program any little question asked was always answered even if it meant our tour guide had to find it out for us. I loved my placement. Best experience of my life. I do feel like it was worthwhile however I did feel at certain points that it probably would not have mattered if I was there or not. But I was always willing to help and definitely felt appreciated by everyone involved. The accommodation was exactly how I expected and in some areas it was better than I thought and actually better than some volunteers. I felt very lucky. Meals were always good and very accommodating towards my vegan dietary with no questions asked which I also appreciated. The in-country coordinator and support staff was Amazing. Everybody was there for you no matter what and did whatever they could to help you and help you have the best time ever. The highlight was meeting not only the group I was working with I got to meet other volunteers and get close with them and make friends for life with people from all over the world. The volunteering at the elephant village and the childcare center was the best experience and so rewarding! It could never be replaced! I believed I had 3 weeks volunteering and 1week at the beach but I turned out that I only had two weeks volunteering as excursions are also included in those 3 weeks. I would if like more volunteering involved even if it was just a few more days at the childcare center. Other than that I had the best month of my life and I would recommend it to anyone even contemplating the idea. It's more than just volunteering as you get to travel and see amazing sights you haven't and will never see again. Thank you for the most amazing experience of my life thus far!!”

“After spending 2 weeks abroad in Surin Thailand I can safely say this was one of my best travel experiences. The coordinators made it easy to sign up for the programs and they made it clear as to what to do once I landed. I learned new cultures and met lots of other great volunteers from all over the globe. The program itself was educational and unique. Many volunteers chose to stay longer and I can't say I blame them. Accommodation was very basic but had all the essentials and was clean. The coordinators gave us lots of freedom in spending our spare time and gave us information about weekend trips and such. I highly recommend signing up for a trip! You'll learn many things about the world and discover more about yourself in the process.”

“I liked the different tabs for the upcoming trip on the website and how they were red or green depending on if the requirements had been fulfilled. I also loved the countdown until the trip at the top of the page! I wish there had been more specific packing information in pre-departure booklet such as to bring a backpacking backpack rather than a suitcase! The staff was very helpful and timely in their responses. I enjoyed my placement and I thought we would do more volunteering than we did but I was happy with the experiences that I did have. The childcare sit was very appreciative of our work with the kids and the school improvement projects as well. The accommodations were great and I was very thankful to have AC in all the hotels. I always felt very safe. The meals provided at the elephant village were amazing and some of the best I had on the entire trip! In-country support staff was amazing! I LOVE BEN!!! My highlight of the experience was visiting and working at the elephant village in Surin. It was definitely one of the top three highlights of my entire life! I have to say that I was very impressed with the organization and the amount of activities planned throughout the course of the trip. I am fortunate to have traveled quite a bit during my lifetime with other programs and I was very pleased with Volunteering Solutions and their commitment to following the set program and participating in each activity the fullest.”
