My time in Arusha, Tanzania has been an experience that I did not deserve. If I were to describe my experience in one word, I can say that "amazing" is an understatement. From the first day, I fell in love with the culture and environment in Arusha. I was warmly welcomed by the Matolo family, Mr. Charles, Abraham and felt at home. I was treated as a member of their family. Originally, I was supposed to volunteer in the summer, however, due to the pandemic, I rescheduled for the holidays instead. That was the best decision I've ever made. The atmosphere during the holidays is very lively, warm, and welcoming. I connected with every individual that I've met--from the house staff to my coworkers, and fellow volunteers at St.Elizabeth Catholic Hospital. At the hospital, I volunteered in the surgical ward and there is no word that suffices to demonstrate my experience. I have observed a copious amount of procedures, but my most favorite was a pediatric, orthopedic broken wrist repair. I have made so many connections with the nurses, physicians, and surgeons at the hospital. The staff there are extremely kind and loving. It's beautiful to see every worker working together as a team--which ultimately is the essence of what medicine is. Lastly, though I only stayed in Arusha, I can tell from the snippet of what I've seen, that Tanzania is a beautiful country. The weekends were one of my most favorite parts of my time in Tanzania. I visited the Tarangire National Park, Kikuletwa Hot Springs, the Maasai Village, and many more. I am more than thankful to the Volunteering Solutions team. Mr. Sahil has been more than helpful in assisting me to prepare for my trip to Tanzania. Thank you so much Volunteering Solutions for making this goal of mine an accomplished reality and acquired blessing. God bless!

Dina and I did Medical Volunteering in Zanzibar, Tanzania with Volunteering Solutions and Khaya Volunteering. These organizations have provided us with an amazing medical volunteer experience. We worked in the Surgery and Dental departments at Mnazi Mmoja Hospital in Zanzibar for 2 weeks. The mission also included housing and food with a local family, which provided a unique experience of living as a local in Tanzania and helping the local community itself. Throughout our stay we have always had a lot of support from the host family, volunteer coordinators, and the entire VolSol and Khaya team. Thanks a lot

The volsol communications were great. However once in country things felt a bit disorganised. I thought I'd have some form of orientation on my first day but was welcomed by staff, shown to my room and given breakfast then left to my own devices without any extra information given and didn't meet any of the organisers until the next day. I'm quite a seasoned traveller and this bothered me so could have been quite worrying to anyone younger or more nervous. Also on my first day at the hospital the chap who was expecting me wasn't to be found and Armani grim the organisation seemed to give up directing me to go along with another volunteer without any formal introduction which confused some of the hospital staff. (When we did meet the right chap he was very nice and helpful). At the hospital it was quite self-directed finding departments to visit etc so being bold is a plus! Also necessary to be bold finding your way to work and the first few days I was very glad of access to Google maps via the local SIM I was set up with on induction. Overall though I really enjoyed my experience, Tanzania was a fantastic, diverse, country to visit and I'm sad I didn't have longer to spend.

I took part as a dentist to the health-care medical program in Tanzania (Arusha) this last August. It has been a beautiful experience, I met many volunteers coming from different part of the world, and it was great to share this experience with new friends. The Dr in the hospital where I volunteered was helpful and friendly to me, and he made me feel part of his work team... it was amazing! I felt really useful to people in the hospital!! Furthermore, we have seen beautiful places like Ngorongoro crater and Kilimanjaro waterfalls and witnessed a completely different culture. This experience opened my mind, and I learned to see things in my all-day life from a different point of view.
