I liked the personalized trip page on the website because I found it very easy to use and appreciated all the steps laid out for me. I thought it was very thorough and useful. It was a bit difficult to communicate with the service staff due to time differences. I really enjoyed working with all the children and staff at my placement. The children were absolutely adorable and greeted me everyday with hugs and affection. I also grew very close with the teacher I was working with and found the staff overall very welcoming and appreciative. At first it was not clear that the school necessarily needed help but it turned out that many of the students actually came from poor townships and really appreciated the attention and affection given by the volunteers. I feel my experience was very worthwhile and only wish I could have stayed longer. The accommodation was fantastic. The Sea Point house was cleaned every single day and always felt comfortable and homey. I felt that the meals provided could have been a bit better considering how cheap everything is in South Africa is. The local staff was amazing! We were given a very thorough orientation which helped prepare me for the rest of my trip. Our hostel manager Kevin was always available to assist with anything we needed and made sure our tours were booked taxis arrived and that we were comfortable at home and at our projects. He played such an integral role in the house dynamic and definitely contributed to my unforgettable experience! The highlight of my volunteering experience was how open and appreciative the children and staff were to the volunteers. The children showed me so much affection from day one and always made the work so enjoyable. The highlight of my whole trip was having the opportunity to live with and make friends from all over the world. I will always carry with me all the amazing memories from this trip. During one of my tours I met someone volunteering through a different organization that worked in the townships and poorer areas of South Africa. I think a project like this would be very valuable and allow volunteers to have a more direct impact on the people and communities they work with.

This is the most incredible experience of my life and I am thankful to Volunteering Solutions for making this even better for us by guiding us at every step. I feel like the luckiest girl in the whole world. I spent the last two weeks with the most amazing people and children. I really enjoyed teaching the children and made many little friends in the orphanage school. I love being with the children and I will come again for them. This was by far the best decision I could have made to come to South Africa and volunteer. I will cherish these friendships forever. On the weekend I took a safari trip which included elephant interaction and lion walking. I also took the helicopter tour of the Cape Town city and the views are amazing and beyond imagination. I have volunteered with one of my best friends so we did Skydiving and Sharkcage diving together and for that you have to watch this video of my life changing journey to South Africa hope you all like it. Thanks for all the memories South Africa. I will treasure this experience always and remember each of these smiles for a lifetime.

The area 'account' with all the information and instructions about my personal trip is my favorite on the website. The staff responses are efficient and punctual. I enjoyed working with the children and I felt that they enjoyed my company too. The accommodation was very good but the meals were small. The in-country support staff was excellent. I'm so glad to have done this experience It was really really worth it.

I liked the Pre Departure Information because they gave me a good impression of what I can expect in South Africa. I really loved my project. I could work with the grade R at my school and the children were so lovely. It was awesome to see how happy you could make them by helping them with their exercises and playing with them. I also liked my teacher very much. She handled the children so well and it was always a pleasure to help her. I also got the chance to make some experiences in higher grades and I was allowed to teach a grade 7 one day when their teacher was ill. It was an interesting new task I could cope with and it was very nice to see that they already missed me after one day. I could always see the smile on the children's faces when I did something for them and that's how I know it was the right decision to go to Capetown. The accommodation was placed perfectly. Sea Point is such a nice place to live in Capetown right next to the sea. With mini buses and taxis you had the best connection to the city centre Camps Bay the Waterfront and you could also start your hike to Lions Head right at the hostel. The meals were ok the food was good but often not enough to make you full. I can not really point out one highlight of my stay in Capetown. I had the chance to see so many things in and around Capetown like the V&amp A Waterfront the Stadium Robben Island Longstreet the Companies Gardens the Signal Hill Lions Head Table Mountain the most southern tip of Africa the Cape of Good Hope and so on..and It was awesome how many people from all over the world you get to know in the hostel and how much you can miss them when you have to go back home!

The pre departure information booklet was excellent it provides all the information I need for my program. All the staff members are very friendly and helpful they responded to my emails quickly and answered all my questions. I really enjoyed working at my project placement. It was a great experience for me and for the school as well. The staffs at the school appreciated my effort in playing sports with the children and helping them doing simple sport assessments for the children. I loved the accommodation and the meals provided. My host family was very nice and accommodating. We were allowed to use basically everything in the house. I felt like I was just staying at my own home. The service and support of the in country coordinator and support staff were excellent. They provided all the information we needed and the orientation day was done very well I enjoyed it a lot. This volunteering trip definitely broadened my vision and I have learnt a lot from it. I volunteered because I wanted to give back to the world and to help the poor community in Cape Town but it turned out that I gained more than I gave. This trip the people the community the school and the children made me realized how lucky I am. They also taught me to treasure things and that happiness can be very simple. I would highly recommend others to join Volunteering Solutions if they want to Volunteer Abroad.

I worked with kids aged between 8 months to 2-5 years old. I used to provide them love and care which they would be missing. We also used to give those babies class about give bottle change diapers play comfort help others. We used to teach them organize painting classed read stories for them and also provide them supervision in their daily routine tasks. The accommodation and meals were good. I have felt very well. Our coordinator Sam was always very helpful and reliable. I felt very safe and welcome. I had many highlights from the project. During my work in the hostel I made many new experiences. I made really great friends with hostel staff and I also enjoyed other things such as Safari Skydiving Township etc. I am very happy to have chosen this program. Thank you!

I found all the sections on VS website useful. They gave me an easy access to the information I was searching for. The information booklet is really well prepared! It helped me make sure that I had all necessary stuff packed and things done as well as introduced me to the conditions I&#39 d come across in my destination country and placement. The service of the stuff is always excellent with quick and informative responses. I really felt like I got an assistance. I did enjoy my project. It&rsquo s always important to make friends with children that went through a lot in their past and to share the time and great emotions with them. I feel like that&rsquo s also mutually beneficial &ndash for children to experience corrective interactions and for us volunteers to share what we have and to learn from all those brave and grateful kids. That volunteering experience reminded me that the best way of understanding the country and the life of its people is indeed to talk to the locals and working alongside (media can&rsquo t replace that). I got to know a lot from the school principal the teachers the children&rsquo s parents etc. Well making new friends is the additional highlight. The other enriching (and fun!) experience was definitely the 3-day Western Cape tour that I took right after the project &ndash more amazing Fauna and Flora more beautiful landscapes informative guidance wine tasting...:) The volunteer hostel was the place it was expected to be &ndash we shared the rooms the lounge the kitchen our experience and conversations. As it was the winter time in RSA you might have needed to wear some extra layers inside the house but there was enough of good facilities (a laundry very close to the hostel) and Internet access so you could get all things done on the spot! The meals were ok especially the food for breakfast and dinner which was quite filling. So I would recommend this program to everyone.
