Hello Danielle, It was great to have you in the Township Project in Port Elizabeth. It is good to know that you loved working with the local children of the township and agreed with the overall vision and mission of the project. At Volunteering Solutions we chose the projects carefully and only send volunteers to those projects which are sustainable and meaningful and making a long term impact. It would be great to have you in our programs again soon. Wish you all the best ! Team Volunteering Solutions

Public school for children 2-6 years. In the school where I worked there were 3 teachers, a secretary and the Principal. When I began to go to school the teachers of the younger children disappeared and left us taking care of the children, that is to say, at first we replaced them and it was free time for them. After a few days in this dynamic, I spoke with the teacher of the slightly older children, teacher Nahwal and I told her that I wanted to do proactive activities, not only take care of the younger children (2-3 years), after my request the teacher helped me and started to ask me for some homework and to open up the possibility of doing some activities to work on more specific things with the children. Thanks to his management I had the opportunity to work with each one of them separately and be able to use some resources of my profession. As for the destination of my volunteering, I must confirm that it was not a place of extreme vulnerability as I imagined, most of the children had lunch, used different clothes every day and had parents. It was not a school with an extreme risk, if I or the volunteers did not attend, the teachers were always available. I also called the attention to have more children because the infrastructure was quite large and gave space to educate a greater number of children. On Fridays we helped in cleaning and there were rooms that were never cleaned. The bathroom was always smelling like cigarettes and I understand that you should not be able to smoke (for children). The only teacher who was proactive, managed and thought about how to solve specific issues in children's education, looking for new possibilities with the resources she had was teacher Nahwal. Nahwal did not rest all day but really the other teachers did not have the will to fix, improve the activities, the education since for this it was not necessary to invest more. Lodging house: The smell of cigarettes throughout the day and night bothered me deeply since I do not smoke. At night he slept with the smell of cigarettes as it filtered through the windows. My room was dark and I needed artificial light but I tried to spend most of the day outside. Another point was also annoying was the noise that was in the night since the volunteers did minifiestas and / or arrived in the late night and followed the party at the hostel. All this is normal for the average age of the majority but sometimes the noise was very annoying and especially on weekdays, thinking that we had volunteered the next day. Noel Very gentle, since it is a tremendously demanding job to be present for all the doubts of the volunteers. Breakfast and lunch: basic for teenagers and university students. At breakfast they could include oatmeal and peanut paste. As for the service in the Golf Club, the people who attended were very flexible and attentive and tried to change my food when I asked them and before that I am very grateful. Feedback I think that this volunteering should be differentiated by age, since the maturity of the participants is definitely very different and it would allow to categorize the works and processes that are carried out in volunteering. Many go to volunteering to have fun, to know another country or because it serves them in their universities ... not necessarily with a social commitment, so this becomes just a business, thinking that many volunteers do nothing important and decisive that something changes the situation of the place. It would also be useful to inform in advance the place where the volunteering will take place. Also inform that not all volunteers are made in places of extreme vulnerability and can describe a little more the place and tasks to perform. Regardless of the fact that there are many things to improve, I appreciate the opportunity, support and help during volunteering.

It was an amazing experience to work with the children and the teachers are So greatfull that you are there to help them! ?My hostelmanager Katie was amazing and she was always there when you needed her. She really feels like a friend instead of your hostelmanager because she is so friendly. The accomodation was clean and the food was good. It was a great experience to live together with all the other volunteers. My highlight was working with these little children but also doing things with other volunteers in our spare time made this trip unforgettable.

The most important thing about this volunteering experience in Cape Town South Africa was that not only did we learn and serve in our respective programs we also came back home with an international family. That is to say I formed bonds with people of different nationalities and something I could observe was that despite the political economic and social differences or others of each person in the hostel we were all a single race "Human". Experience as a volunteering in the Heathcare Program in Cape Town South Africa has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. That is as a current medical student I have taken a teaching and is that certainly not all knowledge is in the books. If we want to learn about health and be good health professionals in the future we have to venture into experiences like the one I had in Cape Town. The goal of volunteering in the Healthcare Program was to learn about a health care system other than the one in which I belong (United States of America HealthCare System). And at this experience I learned and was able to compare and identify flaws in both the American Health System and the Health System of the Republic of South Africa.

I've learned a lot in the span of two weeks both from the clinic and from my host family. Country Coordinators were welcoming and helpful. The overall living experience was excellent. It was very comfortable and homely stay with all the facilities that I could have asked for. The host family is the most generous home I've been in. I feel like they went above and beyond in making my stay safe and enjoyable. They deserve a raise :) The experience was definitely worthwhile. Even though I'm a medical student I'm still in pre-clinical years so this was my first hands on experience. I particularly learned from the practitional nurses. The family I stayed with the nurses and patients that accepted me despite me being new to the clinic and the beauty of cape town were highlihgts of my volunteering journey to South Africa.

I really enjoyed being in South Africa! I lived at the hostel and I got a lot of amazing friends there. We did a lot of fun things together. I worked at a pre school and I loved it! The kids where amazing and I enjoyed every moment with them. I learned so much from my experience in South Africa and I would definitely go back! At the hostel I lived in we had a house manager named cassy and she was amazing! The sweetest person I ever meet. The house was clean and spacious and in a good neighborhood. The food was alright. My experience and the project was amazing! I really miss the kids I worked with and wished I could go back to them!
