“How did you find the pre departure booklet given to you and the service of the staff in regards to answering your questions and helping you prepare? Usually very prompt email replies great organization in the booklet. I especially liked the checklist of things I had to get ready. The staff was always extremely friendly. Did you enjoy working at your project / placement? Yes! My experience at the clinic was eye-opening and eventful. I learned many useful skills such as giving injections cleaning/dressing wounds and suturing wounds. I was also shocked by the poverty in the clinic they need much better supplies. My experience has taught in with injuries I never saw firsthand and I helped them. All in all my experience has taught me many lessons and inspired me to continue helping. Accommodation and meals Much better than I had expected! My dorm was clean and very comfortable. I was given much space in my room and the bathroom. The family was very welcoming and accommodating. The meals were delicious. Coordinator My coordinator was very professional and a welcoming host mother as well. She was always willing to help. The centro de Salud employees also treated me with an open-mind and had the patience to teach me. What was the highlight of your volunteering experience and your trip? Everyday at the clinic when I was able to help the nurses and patients. I loved spending time with fellow volunteers and planning weekend trips to the Incan Ruins in the sacred Valley and Macchu Picchu. I made great friends. I enjoyed time with the family especially with Micaela the 9 months baby girl!! Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no YES. Sure !! No regrets in joining this program. Whatsoever!!!”

“What areas did you like about our website? I really liked how easy it was to email questions and concerns to Volunteering Solutions. This eased my mind and helped me prepare for my trip. How did you find the pre departure booklet given to you and the service of the staff in regards to answering your questions and helping you prepare? Very helpful I am glad there was a way to know what was or was not acceptable in terms of packing. I also was happy to find information about Peru itself which helped me understand what to expect on my first few days here. Did you enjoy working at your project / placement? Absolutely! This was an amazing experience. I learned more about teaching Peru poverty Spanish and learned more about myself. This program opened up my eyes to a new part of the world and I will be so sad to leave. I loved my placement the food the culture and especially my host family. Accommodation and meals The food was delicious! Muy Rico! As a vegetarian I was apprehensive about finding food without meat in it but my host mother was really kind about it and always made sure I had plenty to eat. I am really going to miss her eggs and potatoes. Even on Sundays when we expected to find food on our own she always made sure we were well fed. I am so grateful!!!! Coordinator Our program coordinator was amazing! She was welcoming and kind when we first arrived to Cusco. She called to check in on us regularly. She helped jump start our English lessons at the kindergarten and was really helpful when another one of volunteers luggage was lost. Thank you Jenny! What was the highlight of your volunteering experience and your trip? The fresh daily bread learning new Spanish phrases and seeing happy cute kids. Seeing Machu Pichu eating delicious home cooked meals playing card or games with my host family. I cant decide ! Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no Yes”

Did you enjoy working at your project / placement? Yes very much. I am glad to have assisted anyone in need. Accommodation and meals Food was unbelievably delicious thanks to the host family comfortable beds rooms bathrooms (kept very clean by hosts) etc. What was the highlight of your volunteering experience and your trip? -I will never forget the interactions with the people here (especially my host family). -Seeing Macchu Picchu -Going to Plaza de Armas daily. Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no YES. Even if you do not choose this program. I would definitely recommend the organization Volunteering Solutions to others. I would recommend the program to people who have an interest in helping others and especially willing to steps out of every day comfort. Any comments and suggestions My coordinator Jenny was very amazing. Everyone was very nice and understanding. They were willing to help when asked (and I never hesitated to ask). Even if you are not confident in your Spanish speaking skills a little will go a long way if you try.”

“What areas did you like about our website? I liked the testimonial page. It enabled my family and I to get a feel for Volunteering Solutions based on the experiences of past volunteers. How did you find the pre departure booklet given to you and the service of the staff in regards to answering your questions and helping you prepare? The staff particularly Sunny Chaudhary was incredibly helpful in preparing me for the trip and in answering my family&rsquo s questions thoroughly and quickly. The pre departure booklet was also extremely helpful in letting me know what to expect and how to prepare for my trip. Did you enjoy working at your project / placement? I loved it.Working with the children was amazing and it was wonderful to be able to work with the teacher on the daily lessons. It was also incredible to live and work in Cusco for a month. The city is safe beautiful and there are so many things to do. Accommodation and meals The meals were always delicious and our host mother always made sure we ate enough. The accommodation was safe and I loved my host family. Our host mother always made sure we were comfortable and happy. She even taught me how to make arroz con leche. I am going to miss living in Cusco. Coordinator Our coordinator was wonderful. When my luggage was lost on the way here she helped me so much by corresponding with the airlines and helping me get my luggage as soon as possible. She would call us at our accommodation to ask us how we were feeling how we liked our projects and if she could help us with anything. On our last day of work she brought us a cake and stayed for the farewell party. She was awesome. What was the highlight of your volunteering experience and your trip? The highlight is a tie between exploring Macchu Picchu and the last day I worked at the kindergarten. The last day at the Kindergarten was amazing because we were able to see that we had helped the kids in some way. It was so wonderful to work with everyone at the kindergarten and I am going to miss them so much. Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no Yes. I think volunteering through organizations like VS is extremely important because they allow volunteers to fully immerse themselves in a new culture while also providing a humanitarian service to the global community. VS has given me an increased proficiency in another language a family in Cusco the opportunity to see amazing sights and the ability to do everything I can to help people in this community.”

They were very helpful and provided any hints/tips essential to getting around Cusco. Did you enjoy working at your project / placement? Yes the staff was welcoming and engaged me in a variety of volunteering activities. I especially recommend this program for Pre-med students because it allows them to see that even pre-med students are needed and can make a difference. Accommodation and meals It was great especially hot showers and meals. What was the highlight of your volunteering experience and your trip? 1.- Seeing Macchu Picchu and other Incan Ruins. 2.- Observing and helping patients in another country especially in one with a none urgent need for healthcare. Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no YES. Any comments and suggestions I liked the flexibility of the program in setting my own dates and also the support in Cusco.”

How did you find the pre departure booklet given to you and the service of the staff in regards to answering your questions and helping you prepare? Very informative. Did you enjoy working at your project / placement? Yes Accommodation and meals Great family good food. Eli made us eat A LOT- sometimes too much but we knew she just wanted us to stay healthy and the food was god. Coordinator Our Coordinator was great briefing us in the beginning and always checked in on how things were going and asked how she could help. What was the highlight of your volunteering experience and your trip? The highlight was being immersed in a foreign culture and language so everything from the combis (local bus) to the food to slang of words. Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no YES!!”
