I enjoyed a lot my Cusco trip. I did a medical program in a public clinic in Cusco and I really liked it, but I think we could have stayed at least one day per week in a hospital, not just in the clinic, because I wanted do do some procedures that I didn’t have the chance to do in a clinic. About the family, everything was perfect. The mom was so attentive and great for us. About the city, Cusco has a lot of excursions to do and places to know. It’s a really good city.

Hello Luisa, We are happy to know that you enjoyed a lot during your trip to Cusco- Peru. In regards to medical-healthcare volunteer placements, we only place participants in local healthcare clinics located in suburban Cusco as these clinics are not highly staffed and receive a good number of patients everyday unlike hospitals which are adequately staffed. Also, these clinics are located in areas where mostly people from low income situations reside. We only offer placement to medical volunteers in healthcare clinics and not hospital placements in Cusco. Glad to know that your experience with your host family was also very positive. We look forward to your participation in the programs in the future. Thanks Team Volunteering Solutions

The 2 weeks I spent in Cusco, Peru were the absolute highlights of my summer. Living with a local family and sharing their everyday life was a pleasure for me. We volunteered in a small kindergarten, that was located in a poorer neighborhood. The kids were lovely and open. It was great to see and experience not only the beautiful side and the breathtaking sights of Peru but also this side of the country with its small everyday wonders. On the other hand it was a shame that we were not informed earlier about the details of our volunteering work. We could have prepared better for the task with more information. Also there were some problems around the organization of the trips and the infos that were given us were not once inprecise. All in all, it was a wonderful and eye opening experience!

This makes us so very happy, Hanna! Thank you so much for leaving us such a wonderful review 😍 Staying with a host family is the highlight for most of the participants in Peru. In regards to you mentioning that you were not informed about the volunteer work before, all the details regarding your placement were clearly given in your placement/booking confirmation document given to you beforehand and also additional information was mentioned in your pre departure booklet. We hope for your participation in our programs in the near future as well. Thanks Team Volunteering Solutions

Great experience - lovely host family great food and clean spacious accommodation really enjoyed my project and did lots of travelling and activities in free time. I loved my project. The teachers were welcoming and very friendly. It was a great opportunity to practise my Spanish and learn how to be teacher. I was given a lot of responsibility from day 1 and was in charge of the whole class so I really had a valuable experience of what being a teacher is like! My project highlights were host family (the mother feels like my second mum and was very caring) teaching English and being with the children -travelling and trekking in and around Cusco.

My overall experience was wonderful. I got to practice a lot of Spanish with my host family and numerous new friends I met along my journey. I had an amazing time with my host family - they were wonderful people - and I had an amazing experience in the medical clinic. Getting to see all of the beauty in and around Cusco and the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The experience was great the people were very friendly and my time was well-spent. Spending time with my host family visiting the Sacred Valley and visiting Machu Picchu were the highlights of my trip.

I volunteered at the Day Care Center in Cusco Peru for 2 weeks and it was an amazing experience. The program was very well organized the staff was very good and they made me feel very safe. I had a lot of fun being a part of this program. It was great working with the kids. I also opted for a hiking in the Rainbow Mountains. I would recommend this program to all because it is very well organized and the program is not very expensive.

My overall experience was amazing I do not have anything to complain about at all. Everything was better than I expected from my accommodation to my placement my coordinator everything was great. My local coordinator Jenny Torres was amazing. She answered all of my questions even before my trip and was always very supportive. She always cared a lot about my safety and well-being and would constantly ask me how I was doing checking up on me making sure everything was fine. My accommodation was excellent. The family was very nice the beds and everything was clean and the meals were delicious and very hardy it was difficult for me to finish everything sometimes. The bathroom was very clean and there was warm water in the shower. I loved the family they took me in as if I was their own child they even drove me to the airport when I was leaving amazing and beautiful people. I loved my placement. I worked at the kindergarten project the kids are so beautiful. I really felt like I was making a difference in these little kids' lives because the teacher really does need a lot of help. I absolutely fell in love with all of them and it was very hard to say goodbye. I only worked there for about 2 hours a day though so I really wish I could have been there longer and done more. There were many highlights for me first of all my project placement as I said before I loved working with the kids and it was a life-changing experience. Also visiting all the amazing touristic spots such as Machu Picchu the Rainbow Mountain and many other archaeological zones that are just mind-blowing. Probably one of my biggest highlights were the friendships that I made with the other volunteers on my program I have friends from different parts of the world that I hope to keep in touch with for a very long time.

My experience in Cusco was absolutely extraordinary. My home-stay was one of my favorite parts of my time there as the family was so kind to me and the other volunteers. I am a vegetarian and they went out of their way to accommodate me and make me feel like part of their family. I truly felt like I was making a difference in my volunteer work at the daycare center. There was always something to do and it was such a joy to see the children learn and grow in the two weeks I was there. Every afternoon after I finished volunteering I took the bus into the city center with another volunteer. There is an endless amount of places to explore in Cusco and everything is very inexpensive. I was able to take day trips to Machu Picchu Humantay Lake Rainbow Mountain and the Sacred Valley at very little cost. I loved seeing Peru's beautifully diverse countryside and learning about its rich history. I returned to the United States wiser and more confident after immersing myself in Peru's culture for two weeks. Coordinators Keli and Jenny were extremely helpful and kind to me. I loved going to volunteer everyday. The children are so friendly and lively and they have a great desire to learn. It was great to feel needed and see that I was helping the teacher. The highlight of my trip was the wonderful home-stay experience. The host family was so warm and welcoming to me and my host mother even walked me to the bus stop early in the morning when I took day trips. There was also another volunteer and student in the house while I was there. We all became great friends and did several activities together. Volunteering in the daycare was also a highlight for me as it gave my trip purpose and meaning. I learned so much through my volunteer work and I hope the children were able to learn from me as well. My family and I would like to thank all the coordinators at Volunteering Solutions who were so helpful to us as I prepared for my trip. My parents were able to send me to Peru feeling confident that I would be safe and receive assistance. I was and I did! The experience was more incredible than I could have even imagined! Thank you!
