One of the best experiences i had in my life! I had a wonderful time helping the students at school and felt that was actually making the difference. You really get connected with people and with the country's culture, even if you go just for 3 weeks like i did. I met amazing volunteers that made this experience by far even better. This was my first volunteering experience abroad and definitely not the last!

Hello My friend Angela and i were in Kathmandu for two weeks. We worked at the Orphanage Bal Mandir. Our contact in Kathmandu was Uma. She was really kind although it sometimes seemed like she didn't really care about us or how it was going at work. The didn't even do the Feedback video with us, she let her son record it. At our first day the taxi dropped us at the orphanage and no one told us what to do or where we should work. The women there couldn't speak english, we felt a bit lost at our first day. I think this should really be better organised for the volunteers because we really felt like we're not needed there, there was no appreciation. After the first week 2 other volunteers came and they also didn't know what to do so they came with us. One of the teachers was really mad because there were too many volunteers in her classroom so she wasn't talking to us and she was not friendly at all. The orthers were happy with us though. If it would be better organised with where or what the volunteers should work these complications wouldn't exist...Also we weren't able to see the whole orphanage because Uma said we're not allowed to see everything. But I think if we work there and maybe want to raise money afterwards for the orphanage we should have the opportunity to see the whole place. The Trips to Pokhara, Bhaktapur and Nagarkot were really well organised and we enjoyed it a lot. The food at Uma's house was good, although we ate the same food almost every day but it was okay. The accommodation was also good, it was a bit sad that there is no space to hang out with other volunteers and also outside were no chairs or tables where we could spend time together. All in all it was an amazing experience to work at the orphanage, the kids were adorable and the people were kindhearted. What we would like to know is, where our money went that we paid to volunteer solutions. Was it all for food and accomodation or did some of the money go to the orphanage? Thanks for everything. Kind regards Michelle Helfenstein

Program was very educational. Would appreciate better if there was more hands-on work as advertised because it was very observational and sometimes it can be hard to get engaged and participate in active learning. Language barrier was obstructive in learning process and not all doctors will explain and willingly explain everything thoroughly but overall very good experience, but definitely have room for improvement!

It was fantastic. Uma has everything well planned so you can be productive for the very first moment you arrive. I have been working with her and with the community school Neel Bahari. Their treat with me was excellent and they made me feel comfortable in every single moment. Highly recommended for the rest of the volunteers. Uma Matema (coordinator) was helpful from the moment I arrived in Kathmandu. She was supportive during the two weeks even in matters non-related directly with the volunteering work. I am very grateful to her because I was worried before going there to be productive but she made it happen easily. It was a touching experience sharing the time with the children and trying to help as much as possible.

I absolutely believe this trip was an eye-opener. I learnt a lot in Kanti hospital and the doctors were very friendly and answered all my questions. Nepal is a beautiful place where you can see breath-taking things and gain lots of experience and the people there are amazingly friendly and helpful. The coordinators were really friendly and helpful. They were always in contact throughout the whole stay. The overall living experience was excellent. It was very comfortable and homely stay with all the facilities that I could have asked for. The experience was very worthwhile . The doctors were helpful and answered all questions. Mr. Bishop is a great passionate guy who has a strong love for childcare and an endless desire for improving the hospital.
