Hi. I enjoyed doing volunteering teaching English in Rabat. The people were very welcoming and friendly that made it easier for me. I taught basic English to different age groups. We did this for two hours for three days. One day we did Indian fashion show and Indian cooking class. This was done by my wife the fashion show and cooking class. On the last day of our working day they got us married in Morocco way.(me and my wife) I hope that they gained some knowledge from us. We went through speaking English and writing. We also gave them chance to come forward of the class to speak and write. We did presentation on marketing on PowerPoint. If I had time and opportunity again I would definitely do it again.

It was a very interesting experience as I was interested in the way of living of an Islamic country. The work as volunteer was affected by summer vacations in Rabat and also Covid restrictions, but anyway was satisfactory. You have to be clear that you go as volunteer and you may have to accept circumstances that are not familiar to you. The trips on weekends were great to complete the experience.

Overall my experience was very positive. This was an excellent way to spend a short time in a place and do good at the same time as experiencing the local culture. If your time is less constrained then there may be more cost-efficient ways to do it. The program provided everything that they said they would. Before the trip I spent a few hours a week for a few months learning Arabic online. That was helpful but I think that you would actually get a better experience especially with your host family if you knew enough to have more meaningful conversations in Arabic. Ali the local coordinator was very helpful and friendly. He was very knowledgeable about the program and about things to do in the area. My experience was positive. I felt that I was able to provide help that was badly needed that week and I was glad that I was able to be helpful despite my lack of knowledge of Arabic. The people there were very friendly.

The Pre-Departure information booklet was perfect containing all information and more required. Sahil and Ali were attentive and responded to emails concerns and inquiries almost instantly. It was the best experience ever. I loved the school loved the home I stayed in and loved Morocco! The kids and teachers were eager and enthusiastic. They appreciated my efforts and were very thankful. The Moroccan host family were welcoming and I felt at home. I enjoyed the authentic cuisine and it was very tasty. Ali was our in Morocco coordinator who was always available welcoming genuine supportive and friendly. The highlight for me was reading the book 'Elmer' to the kids. It gave me this deeply uplifting warm feeling when the kids were so excited about 'Where's Elmer?' They absolutely loved it. Other than that meeting so many amazing people in Morocco and seeing so many sights was my definite highlight and immersing into the culture of Morocco. Volunteering Solutions are great affordable and helpful!

Absolutely amazing from the moment I landed was well taken care of by the local coordinator and really enjoyed the balance of volunteering/ sightseeing I felt like I accomplished and witnessed so much of Rabat already in the short week I went and am hoping to be able to go back for longer in 2018 to experience more of what Morocco has to offer in addition to helping out with Women's Rights NGO Joussour. The sightseeing - Kasbah de Ouidayas Hassan II Tower and Old King's Mausoleum Aghdal downtown Rabat and the Medina were the highlights of my trip. Definitely enjoyed and definitely worthwhile planning to do it again in 2018.
