Had an amazing experience of volunteering at the childcare center in Kenya. It was beautiful to spend time with the kids, know more about their stories of life from the house mothers and also, helping them out in their daily chores. The accommodation was great and Joe & Paul were really helpful and friendly.

When I decided I wanted to volunteer in Kenya, I did extensive research on a wide variety of opportunities with several different organizations. I sent out some exploratory emails and from the initial communications, I was comfortable that Volunteering Solutions was the right choice. Sahil and Namrata were quick to respond to all of my questions throughout the application and confirmation process and they both always provided the information I was looking for. When I landed in Kenya, after using all of the pre-departure details provided by VolSol, I felt well prepared for the two weeks I was lucky enough to spend there. In country, Joe and Paul took great care of me and the other volunteers. In the event we needed them, they always made themselves available. VolSol Operations also communicated during my time, asking how things were going and asking if I needed support in any way. Makimei, the Children's home I was connected to, was the perfect place to make an impact. I was so impressed by the commitment of the local women who have dedicated themselves to Makimei and they genuinely appreciated any and all help the other volunteers and I were able to provide. I am already looking forward to my next experience with VolSol - highly recommend working with this organization.

I really enjoyed my time in Kenya. Had an amazing time meeting Mama Margret and interacting with the children at the Orphange. I loved it so much I plan on coming back to Kenya in the future. In country team was very welcoming and sweet. Cared about our adjustments and were very organized. Had no trouble with the coordinators. Wonderful accommodation and had no complaints. It was very worthwhile and I had a blast! The safari was amazing and the matatu rides were fun. Thank you for having me. I really enjoyed it!

It was an great and amazing experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I learned a lot. And sometimes it was very difficult because people in Kenya have other ideas but that's a great way to learn and grow. The overall living experience was excellent. It was very comfortable and homely stay with all the facilities that I could have asked for. In my opinion accommodation was too luxurious. Because I expected it to be a little more like living how the poorly people do. But it was great that we had everything we needed. At first it was very hard for me because of the difference in culture and the way that people treat children but I understand why they do it the way they do. I was prepared but still it was a shock. After a few days it become easier and I loved going to the orphanage. The highlight of my trip wat to know the real people of Kenya. The are so super friendly and helpful. But olso the Safari was amazing.

Kenya is such a beautiful country and as our host country it has been very welcoming. The natives appreciate when you attempt to speak to them in Swahili (even though it might be bad). In my group we have been very keen to learn the native language and have asked as many people as possible on our travels some Swahili words. Our host Paul has been an absolute saint with all of us. He cooks our breakfast and dinner every single day. He looks after the apartment and is always there to answer any questions and help us out in any way. Because of this Julia Amy Stephanie Maryelle another Paul and myself took Paul out to dinner to one of Kenya's most famous restaurants carnivore). Thank you Paul for all you do for us and this was only a small gift for your generous hospitality. The coordinator Joe too has really been great at helping us book things (e.g. Taxis) informing us of what is good and bad etc. Our country coordinators Joe and Paul both were amazing and so helpful. Our time at the orphanage has been amazing. We met some really incredible people but most important of all we had the pleasure to meet play and interact with the most strongest of human beings...the children. On our first day of arriving at the orphanage (Amy Stephanie and myself) washed all the children's clothes. We were shocked at why some many people came to watch us do this until one person told us that they had never seen a white person wash clothes before! Despite all the volunteers that come in us 3 were the first people to do so! The highlights of the program was being able to meet such incredible people and life long friends. As a solo traveler you really do learn who you really are and how to interact and read people. I felt that the program took us away from the tourist environment and we behaved more as locals and were able to explore local life. We learned so much! The safari day was awesome. Truly was an eyeopener to see animals in their natural environment not in cages and allowed to explore and hunt naturally. I feel in love with the children at the orphanage and it was so hard leaving them. I had an amazing time and I can't wait to explore the world with volunteering solutions.Thank you Volunteering solutions.

The trip was great! I really loved the "Two Week Special" because you are always doing or seeing something. I felt like my time in Kenya went by fast but that is because we were always experiencing something new and interesting. The orphanage project was very rewarding. I could not ask for more. It was a wonderful time! Joe and Paul were the absolute best! They were more than willing to answer any and all of our questions. I feel really lucky to have had such supportive local coordinators helping us along the way. I can't say enough nice things about both of them. They truly made my experience amazing! Paul did a great job of making sure our accommodation was always clean. I absolutely loved his food! He worked really hard preparing great dishes. I was really happy to see him everyday! It was great living in a truly local residence. The neighbors were all really friendly and welcoming. The orphanage was great. It was a truly real experience. The safari to the Massai Mara was amazing! Very well organized. The Giraffe Center and Elephant Orphanage were great too.

My experience is one i'll cherish forever. I was welcomed with open arms at Wema (the maternity clinic) where I mostly observed babies being delivered. I saw the beauty Kenya has to offer at places including Massai Mara Hells Gate David Sheldrick elephant orphanage. I also met some amazing volunteers. Coordinator Joe always answered my emails before I came to Kenya. In Kenya he also answered any problems I had. However he didn't come a lot to the volunteer house. Paul (the care taker) cooks very nice food. The overall living experience was excellent. It was very comfortable and homely stay with all the facilities that I could have asked for. I volunteered at Wema maternity clinic in Kenya. I mostly observed mothers give birth. Sometimes there weren't any mothers in labour and during such times while waiting for mothers to come I would cut gauzes or wash windows with other volunteers. The staff are all very nice. They welcomed me with open arms. Massai Mara Hells Gate Visiting the Makimay childrens home meeting the other volunteers meeting the staff at wema clinic were the highlights of my volunteering trip in Kenya. ?
