I really appreciate everything! It has been a wonderful experience and an opportunity to put yourself out there, to learn a lot and to discover another reality. I would recommend this program to anyone. The local coordinator, Joe, is very kind and he is always ready to help you if you need. Very good and professional organization. The company looked after us from the beginning to the end. I absolutely loved everything. Thank you very much volunteering solution for making this possible!

My experience in Kenya was amazing! I learned and did a lot in the hospital thanks to the availability of the doctors and all the staff. I had the opportunity to deal with a different contest from my own and this enriched me from a professional and human point of view. I had the opportunity to meet other volunteers from all over the world. I did a spectacular 3-day Safari. I'd like to thank you to Volonteering Solutions for the opportunity and I recommend it.

I really liked the program and opportunity to support the Makimei orphanage in Nairobi. Such an incredible job the founder and staff are doing there everyday to support the kids. Organisation by volunteering solutions was good and with short turnaround time. I am really disappointed about the fact that not a single cent of my weekly fee of 250€ - which is a lot of money in Kenia - is given to the orphanage. Seeing the guy “managing” the volunteers in Nairobi driving a huge expensive car while the orphanage and staff are struggling to survive is a huge red flag for me. That and the fact that the housing, managed and Organise by the same guy, was extremely basic and not well maintained (old mattress, broken power outlets, no mirror or shower curtain…). At peak time there were 10 volunteers paying there weekly fees of which non ended up at schools, hospitals or the orphans of Makimei. All of the above put aside, I highly recommend to support Makimei as my time with the kids was wonderful. Love and time are everything that counts for them. My time with them was incredibly valuable and rewarding.

You describe your facilities as modern when in real life the shower flows more water out of the curtain than in and there is no mop to clean it. The toilet has to be flushed a certain way otherwise it won’t work. The breakfast you describe as eggs, bread, fruit and coffee is really burnt eggs or raw eggs in the microwave because there is no stove, no fruits and a very bad coffee. Most important of all, you mentioned there were many volunteers coming for me to socialize and spend the afternoons but it was just me living in the apartment.

My experience in Kenya was great ! I met amazing people from different parts of the world and got to really learn about the culture of the country. My experience at the hospital was very enriching, but I would definitely improve the communication between the hospital and the coordinators.
