“Hello! My name is Revant Gattamaraju and I am a student at the University of Texas at Dallas. Although being Indian at my roots, I have absolutely no experience speaking Hindi and was very scared for the language barrier as well as for my safety throughout the duration of the program. I happy to inform you that this will not at all be a problem. I had no idea that we would have a caretaker throughout the program, especially one that is so caring and cautious of our safety at all times. His name is Shanker, and he is easily one of the best points of this entire program. The food he cooks for breakfast and dinner for us everyday is very very good, and he also makes sure to put very limited spice in the food so that it is very foreigner friendly. Some pointers to note though are that the program has a lot of female volunteers. I volunteered for 5 weeks this summer and didn't have a single other male volunteer with me. Not too much of a problem though. Also at Moolchand specifically(this is the hospital you will most likely be working in) there is lots and lots of room for opportunity if you are aggressive and maintain good relations with the hospital doctors. However, due to the slight lack of structure in the hospital it is very easy to get sucked into a pit of doing nothing and standing around. A lot of times I had to go home early as there was simply nothing for me to due that day. Regardless, it was a fantastic opportunity to experience the wonders of India in a safe way as well as see developing medicine occur in front of my eyes. Thanks Volunteering Solutions!”

“I recently attended the medical internship in Delhi, and it was one of the most life changing experiences. Not only did I learn a lot from the hospital but I got to visit so much of India than I expected. Thanks to the help of volunteering solutions, I was able to do the golden triangle tour, in which everything was planned out and I didn't have to worry about a thing. For those who want to attend I would definitely recommend it as Vol Sol did an amazing job of making me feel safe and giving me an amazing experience.”

“I absolutely loved my India medical Internship experience! The local team in Delhi were incredible they were kind, welcoming, warm and I felt really safe. They made sure we saw the best of India! The hospital placement where I worked was within a short drive from the volunteer home. I observed some major surgeries at the OT and also Emergency cases in the Emergency department. India was more than I could have hoped for, it was one of the best experiences of my life! I will definitely return back to India soon to do another trip !!”
