“The pre-departure booklet had all the information we need to be prepare for the trip. I really enjoyed working at my placement. The highlight of my volunteering trip were visiting home patients and the trekking trip. The accommodation in quite clean and the meals are good. Our coordinator are very nice and are always available when we need something or when we have questions. Also I appreciated the fact they came with us for the trekking trip. Yes I would surely recommend Volunteering Solutions.”

“What areas did you like about our website? The photos from the previous volunteers the information about prices and the testimonials. Did you enjoy working at your project / placement? I really enjoyed working in the school .The kids were really great and I was very happy there. I wish I could have had more freedom with techniques on how to teach the kids. They wanted me to just follow along in the books and do the questions at the end. Accommodation and meals The accommodations were great! I really enjoyed staying with Bobby and his family and getting to know the other volunteers I stayed with. They really made me feel comfortable and safe. The meals were good too. Coordinator Bobby was very helpful threw out my trip. He made sure everything was going well with my placement and offered me options if I didn&#39 t like it. On weekend trips he would arrange everything and I didn&#39 t have to worry about a thing. He also always made sure we were having a good time and more importantly always made sure we were kept safe. I never felt worried or scared when he was around cause I knew he or Amit were always watching out for us. What was the highlight of your volunteering experience and your trip? Too many to choose not just one.. Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no YES!”

“What areas did you like about our website? Easy to navigate lots of details about program options. How did you find the pre departure booklet given to you and the service of the staff in regards to answering your questions and helping you prepare? Very informative and helpful Did you enjoy working at your project / placement? I had an excellent time not only were the staff so unbelievably welcoming and accommodating but the boys were all so polite and wonderful eager to learn and special in their own way a real pleasure to be around. The experience also gives you a real taste of life in India and how wonderful it is here. I am already looking forward to next time I will most definitely be coming back. Accommodation and meals Excellent food and very comfortable bed the boys had set everything up for me before I arrived very clean washrooms etc Coordinator Kind warm welcoming amazing with the kids very interested in showing volunteers around Kolkata and ensuring that they get a taste of life here What was the highlight of your volunteering experience and your trip? Unfortunately I cannot pick just ONE the kids were amazing the coordinator and his family so welcoming and Kolkata itself is such a dynamic interesting city with so much to see. Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no YES”

“What areas did you like about our website? A little apprehensive because we applied and went through with making payments without having solid proof of the program but prompt communication regarding details and questions we had reassured us. Pre Departure stuff was smooth and solid. Arrival/ Airport Pickup We put complete trust in everything on this end our coordinator spotted us before we spotted him and he was very welcoming we didn&#39 t have to wait for him at all. This went very smoothly as well. Project Placement I am glad we worked with older boys because I think our skills were more effective with them then they would have been with little kids. The older boys spoke English well. I came with a different idea of what we were going to do. I thought we were going to have specific tasks but it was very informal. It worked out really well. I am very happy with my placement. Home stay This was probably the best part of the whole trip! I felt like the host family made our safety well being health and comfort a priority. The food was delicious and they made filtered water always available to us. I was part of the family and was so comfortable here. Home stay was superb and I highly recommend it. Coordinator Rajiv was more than we could have ever hoped for. He is honest consistent organized and so full of knowledge that he is willing to share with open minds. Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no YES I would especially recommend the Introduction week to any newcomer coming to India as it gave us some time to adjust to the culture and really learn about the people and history of India and also had the chance to see some historic attractions in the area.”

“Pre Departure Information and Contact Contact prior to trip was very prompt all questions and concerns were answered. A little nervous about being in a different country for the first time however all anxiety was put to rest being acquainted with Rajiv (Coordinator). Arrival/ Airport Pickup Everything went very smoothly. The coordinator met us shortly after our plane landed he was very welcoming and put us at ease right away. He explained about himself and his family and where we would be staying so we felt very comfortable on the way home from the airport. Placement/Volunteer Project I was a bit apprehensive at first working with older children as opposed to younger children however the boys were absolutely amazing. The organization was wonderful and its support for the children was very evident. The boys are very smart and they all have such amazing potential. I feel I was very well placed and I am so grateful for the experience. Home stay and Meals AMAZING. There are truly not enough words to describe the experience I have had with my host family. I feel they exceeded my expectations in making me feel welcome and safe. Rajiv also took time to explain cultural things which were different or challenging to us. I feel he had an eagerness to help us learn as much as we could. I truly feel that I am leaving India not just with a great experience but with a second family. The meals were excellent and the family took time to explain the meals and if they had any significance to their culture. Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no YES Absolutely. It has been an amazing experience.”

“Pre Departure Information and Contact The program manager and the host (coordinator) were very helpful to answer my questions and gave me useful information of my placement such as schedule pre departure kit and copy of Insurance. Any recommendations to improve the website It took me one hour to get out of the airport to pass through the long queue customs and getting a cellular phone sim card. By the time I got out the coordinator was already there waiting patiently and smiling at me with the sign of my name on it. Placement/Volunteer Project The orientation walk organized on the first day was very useful to get a grasp of the situation of the street kids in Delhi. There are many kids amongst them 5 were picked for me to work with. I find it easier to work with the small group kids were very eager to learn. I taught them paper folding general knowledge English and they learnt very fast and were very nice to me. They also taught me some Hindi. Home stay The hosts are very nice kind patient and helpful to all of my needs. They taught me Hindi and history and culture of India. They told me where to get good quality inexpensive Indian dresses. We were able to exchange and share view points of our culture thinking and beliefs. Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no YES!!”

“Pre Departure Information and Contact My decision to come and volunteer in India was very last-minute and my contact at Volunteering Solutions - Anurag was very helpful answering questions and processing my paper work quickly. I received fast responses to all of my inquiries. Arrival/ Airport Pickup My airport pickup was waiting for me with a sign and was very easy to find. He drove me directly to my home stay and was very helpful. Placement / Volunteer Project I am very happy with the organization I am placed in. I am gaining valuable experience in the office as well as in the orphanage with the children. Accommodation and meals The family I am staying with is very nice. They speak very good English and have been very helpful with all my questions I have so far. Food is always available as well as filtered water. They have also helped with travel arrangements information about India and have made me very welcome. Coordinator Rajiv has been very helpful as a coordinator. I had some adjustments I wanted made to my placement to be aware of. He made sure to call the organization and support my wishes. Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no I would certainly recommend this experience. It is has been rewarding work and a great place to visit. The first day I arrived I was hesitant but after adjusting everything has been fantastic.”

“What areas did you like about our website? Was very easy to look at the choices and destinations available. How did you find the pre departure booklet given to you and the service of the staff in regards to answering your questions and helping you prepare? I feel the pre departure booklet was very helpful however I feel it could have included maybe some extra points such as prices etc when living in India. Also I would have maybe preferred some more contact with staff in regards to the project and what it may involved. Did you enjoy working at your project / placement? I thoroughly enjoyed the placement and feel it was a great experience and would defiantly consider revisiting the orphanage in the near future. Accommodation and meals The food provided at the orphanage was far greater than ever expected and allowed me to experience and taste different traditional Indian dishes all very enjoyable. Coordinator The coordinator &lsquo Prabir&rdquo could not have been better and was extremely helpful and very friendly by being more than happy to help when we need it inn regards to sightseeing and getting around. What was the highlight of your volunteering experience and your trip? Working and interacting with the children was an amazing and rewarding experience and is a shame to be leaving after such a short time of only a week. Would you recommend this program and our organization to others? yes/no YES!!”
