I decided to travel to Costa Rica through Volunteering Solutions to work on my Spanish and it has been such a wonderful experience! During the week I work at a daycare and the staff has welcomed me with such generous hospitality, not only there but also into their homes and families. The kids are so much fun and are always making me laugh! During the weekends I get to travel—I’ve visited volcanoes, mountains, cities, and the beach, as well as tried lots of delicious food! Living with a host family has allowed me to be totally immersed in the language and culture—such a valuable experience for my future career as a Spanish teacher! I can’t believe I only have one week left—gonna miss it lots!

The volunteer with the turtles was nice I was only a week then I changed to the jaco with more animals and the other two weeks where I met and learned a lot of people and animals is an unforgettable experience. In Country coordinators were very friendly and supportive during your trip. The house was clean and spacious and in a good neighborhood. The food was alright. I would definitely recommend this project to everyone.

I loved my project and it was definitely worth it! I'm really missing it now and I don't think it could have been better. I think one of the best moments was in my first project where we played pantomime to teach the children the animals in English. Another of my best moments was when my host brother (six years old) came very close to me and whispered in my ear that he really enjoys spending time with me. In my second project there was one little girl (only 9 months) and she is really curious and tries to discover new things all the time and helped her to learn how to crawl and that was really great to see. She also starts to say "hola" during my time there and waved and that are just incredible moments when you see children or babies learn such things. The overall living experience was excellent. It was very comfortable and homely stay with all the facilities I could have asked for. The in-country staff was very friendly and supportive. They made the program easier and smooth. I would recommend VolSol to anyone I know is willing to volunteer abroad mostly because of the variety of programs. One suggestion is to share more information before one starts the trip.
