“I volunteered in Cambodia for 8 weeks with VolSol in Phnom Penh's childcare program. The location I worked at was the orphanage Bright Hope Cambodia. I will state quite plainly that my experience was very fulfilling. I built so many long-lasting connections here that I am simply compelled to return in the future, and I have VolSol to thank for this. For all those young intrepids reading this, I urge you strongly to throw all your expectations out the window. There are times to extricate yourself from a situation, such as when your safety is unquestionably at risk, but it is otherwise very important that you see your volunteer placement through to the very end. VolSol is highly trustworthy and can be counted on to ensure that you can finish your placement. If you introduce a strong commitment into your life, it may be more transformative than your expectations ever would have allowed for. I, for one, was surprised to find that the francophone community in Phnom Penh is more vibrant and alive than any online source had ever led me to believe. Ten of my colleagues and fellow volunteers themselves were French, and as a Canadian who is well-along in his French proficiency, this was a very welcoming sight. This also extends to some of the local francophone Khmers whom I befriended. Most importantly, if something good does come to an end, (and it will), do not for a moment think that the memory is now invalid. It is not. It will be with you forever. Already, I can see so many ways in which VolSol has enhanced my resume, and it will be invaluable for years to come.”

“I had the best time and loved my program, I wish I could of gone for longer! I stayed in the volunteer house and got to meet some really good people, we were also well cared for. The staff went out of their way for all volunteers. Would definitely recommend volunteering solutions to anyone looking to volunteer abroad”

“Disorganised, limited communication and communication skills. Not sufficient amount of meals, sometimes ran out and had to go and buy yourself. Not much range of meals either. Was put at a different placement as I was told before departure. Was expecting to be teaching English and then got placed in a nursery with babies and toddlers.”
