“The birds love them! They smell good enough to eat - very peanutty! One thing to point out is that they tend to get a bit sticky in the warm weather so probably better to restrict them to cooler days.”
“I don’t know what they do to make them ‘super’ but I know which the birds prefer judging by the rate at which they disappear from the feeders. (Nothing worse than having to throw away a half eaten fat ball that has gone green with mould because the birds don’t like it).
I have to use squirrel proof feeders because even they like them.
I used an idea I found in an RSPB magazine to bore holes in a log, fit it upright to a fence post, and fill the holes with the suet, it was suggested that this would give a more natural way for great spotted woodpeckers to perch and feed, it turns out that the woodpecker is not the only bird who appreciates this convenience, as it’s not only sparrows and tits that use it, a young raven has also found it to its liking. (I did fit a perch below one of the holes for the starlings and blackbirds which it also uses).
When they come back into stock I will certainly be ordering more.”
“They are an excellent product ..I tried putting out a different kind the birds didn’t like them ! The only problem is when the starlings and blackbirds start they don’t last long oh and that’s without the squirrels. I wouldn’t use anything else”
