What are Suet Logs?
As their name suggests, this product is in the shape of a log – though other than that the ingredients are much the same as our suet products, and therefore provide a highly nutritious bird food for garden birds.

How do I feed Suet Logs to birds?
There are two types of hanging feeder we sell for suet logs: The first is the Suet Log Feeder which the logs are pushed into, and the second is the Suet Log Feeder Basket which the logs are placed inside. Suet Logs can also be placed on a bird table, with this allowing for ground feeding birds such as Blackbird to also feed on them.
What birds can I attract to my garden with Suet Logs?
Blue tit, Great tit, Coal tit and Long Tailed tit are the main species, though if you use the special Suet Log Feeder then also Robins as they’ll be able to stand on one of the logs to feed.

On joining the Dorset Wildlife Trust recently we recieved our membership pack and Vine House offer of £10 going to the trust and was very happy to make our membership go further. Also your kind donation of 4% on seed purchased. All VERY GOOD. However....... The plastic is an issue..... so unfortunatly we will be going back to the RSPB who offer paper options. I think the Vine House seed is great quality and the support for the Wildlife Trusts is a rewarding partnership all round. The birds that enjoyed your finch mix were Brambling Yellow Hammer Siskin not forgeting the Chaffinch Pied wagtail and our resident Pheasant. Would carry on using Vine House it's just the plastic. Kind regards

Good product and service, slightly too thin for the Suet log holder, birds knock them on to the floor.

My garden birds love these. The blue tits line up in the apple tree waiting for me to refill them in the morning. Some other companies fat balls I’ve tried in the past stink, but these are absolutely fine, no unpleasant smell. The fat seems very good quality which is probably why. I can squeeze 3 into the hanging feeder. The improvement I’d like to see would be a reduction in the packing. They come in a decent sized cardboard but inside are packed in small plastic wrapped trays which only last 2 days. I’d happily buy them in a cardboard box, all unwrapped.

As far as I can tell the birds love these suet logs, particularly the Blackbirds. I leave it on the ground and there’s a line of 3 birds all pecking away, and more queuing up! Squirrels like it too. And as for our resident foxes, I saw one carry the whole thing away (on nightcam), holder and all, never to be seen again! I bought another one! I now chop up the suet log into slices for them!
