“These mealworms are very good nutrition and also good value. They are popular with many species of bird. During winter I am visited by pied wagtails and sometimes also grey wagtails. These mealworms are definitely their favourite food. They wait on the house roof until I put the mealworms out on the shed roof, then fly down immediately, not even waiting for me to go, in order to “pounce on their prey”! Many times I have seen a pied wagtail running along the shed roof twiselling a mealworm round in his beak just like he’s saying “Look, I got one!” Very comical to watch!”
“The birds adore them, even the black birds, jackdaws (boo), sparrows, bluetits, red start, dunnocks, pied wagtails as well as the robin pair (the robins have come to feed from my hand twice for the mealworms since the new year). What a joy the birds are.”
