Sunflower Hearts Reviews

Sunflower Hearts are a nutritious seed and can be found in a number of our mixes. Being a great energy and protein source, Sunflower Hearts are ideal for all seasons and stages of life.
With the husk removed, birds can enjoy the whole seed without wasting energy on cracking them open to feed, which is especially important during the energy-conservative winter months.
Although Sunflower Hearts are more expensive to buy than Sunflower Seeds, you are not wasting money on husks that will not be eaten.
If you are concerned about larger birds and squirrels eating large quantities of sunflower hearts then ensure you choose the right bird feeder. We have Squirrel-resistant feeders and baffles in stock along with a full range of bird feeders and stations.

Having learnt about the toxicity levels found in cheap imported untested sunflower seed products and having been sent non-bakery grade cheap imported sunflower hearts that turned out to be stale/rancid (supplied from both a large online retail outlet and an online cheap Petfood supplier) we looked for a British grown alternative. The down side to this was the additional cost, but the hassle of the previous bad seeds and trying to get refunds meant I was willing to pay more and hopefully save myself time and hassle by going for British grown. Chatting with the office at Vine House Farm I received good advice and service and I have to say that the sunflower hearts I received are a far superior product to the rejected items I had got previously from import suppliers. The Vine House Farm sunflower hearts seem fresh, plump and oil rich and have been a sure hit with the birds, none left on the ground for hours, all cleanly consumed and I feel reassured that I am not slowly poisoning my local wildlife with cheapo rancid stuff. Thank you Vine House Farm for taking the stress out of providing quality dinner for our feathered visitors :-)

It has been good to find such quick service. The sunflowers are great and leave no mess. My only quibble is that the sacks that they come in are plastic-based. I would much prefer a paper sack, however, the plastic sack means that no additional packing is required for delivery so I guess it may be more eco-friendly this way.
