“The peanut feeder arrived within just a few days, and the sheet material the container is made from is much sturdier than the wire mesh feeders I have had before, which the squirrels can bend the wires to get at the nuts.
The birds love it, but one squirrel (we have a number!) managed to remove the wire retaining clip that holds the base in place and dump all the nuts on the ground! This after only 1 day in use.
I have resorted to wiring up this "flaw" and have had no repeat so far....”
“Beautifully designed and finished feeder. I’m sure it will last many years and it’s easy to clean. Unfortunately the holes are rather large for the suet pellets I ordered at the same time, so they tend to fall out as I refill it.
My other complaint is that the suet pellets were not packed very well at all. It was 13kg of pellets in a thin plastic bag inside a cardboard box that had a hole kicked in it by the courier.
I won’t be ordering suet in that form again. I only tried it because my usual blocks were out of stock. If you have a slightly larger pellet size that would work better with that feeder I might consider those as an alternative.”
“Solid construction should keep squirrels from destroying this feeder for a year or two. The cheaper wire feeders last hours or days rather than weeks with our resident population. Vine House Farm were very efficient in dispatch so the main order arrived within 48 hours. Very impressive.”
