“This is not squirrel proof! It had been up maybe half an hour when the squirrels managed to open the fastening clip. We think they worked in a team, one swinging from beneath and the other pulling the feeder upwards. We wired the clip to the feeder, which worked. Then they attacked the feeder from underneath, and gnawed a hole in the bottom of the hopper, which unbelievably is made of plastic. We stuffed a wire pot scourer into the cavity and wired it in. Now it is squirrel proof- until they find a way……!”
“So far the feeder has been successful in preventing the squirrel gang (who trashed my last feeder) from getting to the feed. The birds were a bit suspicious of it for a few days but now they are OK with it apart from one sparrow who is still wary of it. Unless the squirrels crowdfund an angle grinder I think the days of them eating the bird's food is over.”
