“The fat cake is too far away from the sides of the cage so the birds cannot get at it ! The fat cake has stayed the same size as when I first put it out 3 weeks ago. I wanted to protect the fat cake from the squirrels but not from the birds themselves!”
Thank you for your feedback, sometimes with a new feeder the bird will take some time to get used to it and they may not be comfortable going inside the cage yet.
Have you tried removing other feeders for a few days to encourage the birds to feed only from this feeder as they will always take an easier option but if the easier option is removed they soon become accustomed to a new feeder.
