“I didn't mind dealing with live worms but was concerned that the box said 'not to release into the wild' as I didn't feel I could guarantee one wouldn't escape. I might instead go for dry ones to rehydrate. Also, I bought oatmeal but actually it comes with it.”
We recommend you feed live mealworms instead of dried ones, if you can, as they contain essential moisture needed by nestlings. The mealworms are supplied with bran & are unlikely to escape to the wild - this is generic advice from our live food supplier & is more relevant to other insects they sell, such as crickets & locusts.
