Parakeet Proof Cage Reviews

If you're not in favour of Parakeets visiting your garden, then the Parakeet Proof Cage should allow smaller birds to feed but prevent Parakeets from accessing the food. This should deter the Parakeets from stopping off in your garden and often frightening away your regular visitors with their loud squawking call.
Please note the Parakeet Proof Cage feeder does not come with a feeder. It will take any of these 4 port feeders Ring Pull Pro, Ring Pull Plastic or Droll Yankee Seed Feeder available separately.

After initial confusion (on my part) thinking that the cage came with a feeder inside, I bought both. Quality products, as reflected in the price- but I had previously bought 4 caged feeders none of which kept out the parakeets that plague south London and scar off the small native birds. This one is parakeet proof and they rarely come around. (Also squirrel-proof). RSPB say no such product exist—-but their article was written a while ago. (The feeder was Droll Yankee 36 cm- 4 ports.)

The Parakeets haven’t given up on trying to get the food but are struggling to understand why they can’t. There is also a significant increase in the nr of small birds feeding. Very pleased to with this product.

Given the tenacity of the parakeets in SW- London I was unsure if this would work. However the parakeets are definitely stumped! They still make efforts and scare the smaller tits & finches away, however they are not getting any food out of this feeder! Hopefully they will give up trying soon!

Since installing my new cage my problems with ring-necked parakeets dominating the seed feeder and eating all the food has disappeared. The smaller birds now have a chance to feed. I will now be setting up my old feeder somewhere else in the garden to allow the parakeets some access to food!

After a lot of research to try to find a feeder which the ever-growing flock of parakeets could not learn to subvert, this seems to have done the trick! It was easy to assemble with the Droll Yankee seed feeder and the large perspex dome over the top keeps the seed dry. Although it has taken a little while for the small birds to get used to it, they are now happily feeding from it and the parakeets seem to have given up and rarely visit the garden now.

Quite expensive but very sturdy and, most importantly, the parakeets cannot reach the food and have given up trying. Success!
