“This feeder is the best of many we have tried, but it still needed a ring of stiff plastic mesh (with large enough holes for the small birds to get through) to keep the jackdaws off.”

Should have been warned that the top handle part is detachable and locks in the opposite direction from the refill lid.
This means that when you turn the lid to lock it it will tend to unlock the top.”
“I am on my 4th Fat Ball Feeder. All the rest have been trashed by Squirrels & Starlings. My Wife even saw a Sparrow Hawk having a go at the last one. The new one is great. Built with good grade steel and coated well to keep the weather out. The outer diameter is big enough to prevent the Starlings putting their heads in at an angle and pecking the Fat Balls. 6 descended a couple of days ago - had a quick attempt and all flew off - job done. Has a well designed strong lid which is easy to open and shut. Nice round ball shaped bottom to run off the rain with a well designed top to prevent rain from soaking the Fat Balls. All in all - the best designed and built Fat Ball feeder on the market - well done.”
