“I have to give a low grade, unusually for your products, as they are generally goo or better.
The fat balls themselves were fine - up to a point. The probme was that the packaging was inadequate. I had expected them to be delivered in plastic containers. Instead they came in very flimsy cardboard boxes.
One of the boxes split open on delivery and inside I could see that many of the balls had disintegrated to form a crumble-like mixture. I have taken a photograph of the open box and I hope to email it to in due course (I haven't yet been able to transfer it from my camera to my computer - not sure why). By the time I extracted, with difficulty, the balls that had survived I had about 75 complete or mostly complete and so could be used in my bird feeders.
I have been able to use the crumbly mixture on my bird table so I decided not to return it nor seek a replacement as this experience was uncharacteristic of your products and service.
I have not yet opened the second box as I am still using up another unexpected quantity of balls donated to me; but the box seems to be intact and hopefully so are the contents.
I hope that your will provide more robust packaging in future.
I don't particularly wish these comments to be published as they are untypical of my experience with you but I will provide a short version if you wish to publish something.”
Hello and thank you for your feedback, we are always looking for ways to improve our packaging to make it more environmentally friendly or re-usable and we challenge out suppliers to do the same with the products that we receive from them.
Please accept our apologies for the manner in which you received your delivery.
“Very popular with our gangs of noisy juvenile starlings! House sparrows occasionally get a look in and great tits, blue tits and coal tits enjoy them when they can.
Ground feeders pick up the fallen crumbs.”
“The local wild birds like these very much- especially this time of year when they are feeding their young. Prompt delivery and well packaged, no complaints at all.”
“The fat balls are an excellent product and much-loved by the birds in my garden. However, quite a number of the fat balls were crumbled up at the bottom of the box when they were delivered, and in fact, left a trail of crumbs through the hall. There was no lining paper in the box which might have helped to keep them together. Otherwise, I am very pleased with them.”
