After the initial dormasnt period where birds are taking note of what is available these have now been going down at the same or similar rate as the premium food mix. It appears that finches are the main contender for this.

The birds can tell if food is good quality. These are disappearing very quickly

It is ridiculously early to review seeds which arrived very recently. As far as I can see the seeds are fine but it will take time before the wild birds make clear whether these seeds are OK

As always arrived promptly. I actually feed them to the squirrels to keep them occupied and away from the smaller seeds so the little birds get a chance. The squirrel seem to prefer the black sunflowers to anything else so it keeps them occupied. Not that I want to encourage squirrels I just gave up for years ago trying to beat them! Tk

I haven't put out sunflower seeds previously for the birds, so I wasn't sure how well they would be received. Initial take-up has been slow, but the birds are starting to take them. That's why I haven't given a higher rating. On the other hand, the super suet balls I bought at the same time were an instant hit: blackbird, blue-tit, jackdaw, magpie and woodpecker have all been a them.
