“I've tried a fair few vaporizers over the years and purchased this after my original crafty standard model clapped out. Storz and Bickel make the best vaporizers in my opinion so the choice when buying is just between the Crafty and the Mighty for a portable and the Volcano or Plenty for non portable, the volcano being my favorite out of everything for the vapor quality and durability of the unit, and the crafty my choice for use on the go.
Regarding the Crafty+, it's superior in quality to the original model but not worth replacing a working original model.
The quality of the vapor is great and can be very strong, the Mighty vaporizer may be a little better here but there's not much in it and they're both way better than most other devices.
With a longer vaping session once the cooling chamber heats up, the vapor can get unpleasantly hot, so I'd recommend buying a spare cooling chamber to switch out if the vapor gets too warm. A Mighty vaporizer cooling chamber also fits perfectly on top so you can buy those for more effective cooling at a small compromise of portability, another option for a cooling upgrade is to buy the metal cooling head which works well, the flavor is nicer too but the metal can get hot enough to burn your bare skin after a long session. Some people store the cooling unit separately in the fridge but I've never tried.
Other third party addons are available such as a bubbler to increase the humidity of the vapor as it can get very dry, especially when hot.
The plastic mouthpieces break fairly frequently maybe once or twice a year depending on use so I recommend the glass mouthpiece which never breaks, it doesn't stay in as well which is a bit annoying but it also feels nicer to use.
For quality of use, it's best to have spare cooling chabers as when one gets clogged you can replace immediately or even if you're going to clean it, you want to be able to use the Crafty while you do.
The standard screen that fits in to the cooling chambers is fairly coarse and allows bits of vaped cannabis into the cooling chamber, clogging it quickly. you can avoid this by just fitting a fine screen in on top of the coarse one.
It's always best to have the cannabis lightly tamped down to get thorough and even vaporization, you don't want to compress it but simply putting one of the provided liquid pads on top of the cannbis works well to stop it flying around inside when you inhale. It also helps keep the cooling chamber clean longer though you will have to replace or clean the liquid pads from time to time.
I find it's best to stop vaping before the cannabis is completely spent as the flavor gets worse the higher the temperature and the longer you vape it, it can leave a foul taste and smell on your breath, so once the vapor strength just starts to drop off it's best just stop and reload as necessary.
For setting the vaping temperature you need a smartphone and app but once it's set you never have to use it again. I'd recommend you keep the temperature below 200C for cannabis flower, I personally go no hotter than 190C but it's just preference.
On a safety note, if you clean anything in the vapor pathway with alcohol make very sure it's fully dry before you use it, I put any parts that were soaked in alcohol in the oven at 100c to dry properly for a good half hour before I use them again.
Never vaporize cannabis oil that has a food oil base, not even hemp oil.”
