“A lovely, stylish looking light that looks miles better than the rather industrial bog-standard fluorescent light fitting. We've got the 4-foot model in our recently refurbished kitchen and it looks great and provides ample even illumination, though I did install standard 'white' tubes instead of the 'cool white' ones provided. It's not been without it's problems though. For a start it's a pity that designers don't give as much thought to installation as looks (but that isn't necessarily a complaint just directed at this manufacturer!), but I'll come to that later. I ordered the unit some months ago, well before I came to fit it. But when it came to it, I just couldn't get it to sit on the ceiling properly, as though there was something caught underneath. After a lot of fiddling and cussing, I realised that the control box itself was warped! However, Universal Lighting came to the rescue and provided excellent service in getting a replacement sent out quickly, despite the delay since original receipt. This one arrived much better packaged by the manufacturer. Make no mistake, this unit requires two people to fit. With a bit of design input this could be circumvented. I eased the burden on my helper by pre-wiring the unit to an in-line 3-pin connector, and the mating part pre-installed on the the incoming wiring, so it was just a matter of joining the two parts together when it came to fit. A lot less fiddling. The mounting bracket has a pre-wired earth connection to the unit, which would make it nigh-on impossible to fix it independently to the ceiling. So I decided to pre-wire the bracket to the incoming earth instead, thus freeing the mounting bracket. [Don't do this unless you know what you are doing!]. Once installed, I discovered that the space for the tubes was just a couple of millimetres too short for the tubes (Crompton)! Fortunately the outer arms are fixed in position with grub screws, so I managed to increase the space to allow the tubes to fit. So, in summary I have mixed views on this product. I would probably buy another just for the looks, knowing the challenge of fitting, but I would hope the QA is improved. If you buy from Universal Lighting you know you will get good service.”

“My first delivery was broken but was delivered by another firm due to the snow and I don’t believe they took enough care,spoke to Universal who arranged for next day delivery with usual firm ,no problems,really pleased with it and with customer service”
