“This tea is the kind sold in the UK and unfortunately not on the continent, it seems.
The typical EarlGrey aroma is much stronger.
Don't think it is only the British who prefer their hot cuppa with a more assertive bergamot flavour. It would be real nice to find it in our supermarket instead of the watered down version which is sold here now. Good idea,Twinings?”
“Not sure if anyone else has had the same experience, but I’ve really noticed a serious deterioration in the flavour of these teabags in recent months.
Having used this brand for many years now, I recently opened a new box and found the first cup of tea to be absolutely vile! Thinking that it might have been sour milk that I had added, I made a second cup and found the same awful taste. At this point, imagining that it had to be an issue with the tap water, I used bottled water, but to no avail, so all 3 cups went down the sink. As it even smelled very bad, with none of the usual sweet essence, the only conclusion was that it was the tea itself.
Considering that it might be a bad box, or batch, as can happen, I purchased another box a couple of days ago, and while I didn’t find the same awful taste, there was a considerable lack of flavour and it felt a bit flat or neutral, like what I now find with ordinary black tea.
Given the recent size change from 100 to 80 bags, and subsequent price increase, I’m not too keen to test a third box, so I think that this will unfortunately be last that I use of this brand, and both boxes will be returned to the shop.
Would be interested to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences. (Products purchased in Tesco, Dublin, Ireland)”
Thanks for reviewing our Earl Grey tea.
We're really sorry to hear you've had an issue with some recent packs of this tea. Whilst we did reduce our pack sizes from 100 to 80 teabags, we can confirm that we have not changed the recipe of the blend, nor have we changed the quality of ingredients that we use.
Given the above, we are keen to find out what has been going wrong with this cuppa. Could we please ask that you email our CS team at: twinings.direct@twinings.com as they will be able to investigate and help you further with this?
Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
