“I have been drinking Twinings earl Grey for many years but don't know what has happened to it recently. Not only has the 100 teabags box been reduced by 20% to 80 teabags but the flavour and aroma has almost gone. It no longer has the taste of a speciality tea, but that of a cheaper brand. All very dissapointing.”

Although our previous pack size of 100 teabags has been replaced with a new pack size of 80 teabags, we haven't made any changes to the recipe, so we would like to look into this further so we find out why this tea tasted different to the cuppa you normally enjoy. We've raised this with our CS team who will email you later on today so this can be raised for investigation.
In the meantime, we can confirm that our pack size was reduced so that we could reduce the overall Recommended Retail Price (RRP) of this product. Our new pack counts are now also the same as many of our competitors making it easier for our consumers to make a direct comparison between them.
Whilst the pack size has been reduced, we can assure you that the price per teabag we recommend to retailers remains the same. Our Earl Grey tea now has a RRP of £5.29 per 80 teabags, however, each individual supermarket will ultimately decide how much they sell our products for. “What has happened to the Earl Grey recently? It has become a much stronger tea tasting more of black tea than Earl Grey and losing a lot of its delicacy. I drink a lot of this tea and feel the quality has declined dramatically recently. Are you putting more black tea in it to keep the price down. I am going to have to look for another brand, even if more expensive, if it doesn't improve.”
