“Disgusting alternative to the ordinary lapsang - somehow tastes like glue. If you’re looking for an alternative to Lapsang, I’ve found the Waitrose own brand version to be nice - definitively don’t buy this!!”

“This is awful, so disappointing! Twining's Lapsang was my favourite, I drank it every single day. Totally gutted it's been discontinued - this is not at all a substitute for it. Tastes artificial, watery, none of the comforting smokiness of Lapsang. Horrid. Please reconsider and bring back the proper thing!”

“What have you done, its less superior than Lapsang, the Master blenders clearly do not drink their own curated tea. Sorry, but you've made the wrong move, it's almost tasteless bar the unpleasant after taste. A poor substitute for the original Lapsang you packaged and sold..”

“I agree with the other reviews. I hope that they are still making the original Lapsang as the Distinctively Smokey is undrinkable. It has a weak flavour and a horrible aftertaste. I have thrown it away after using just two teabags.”

“This is so, so unpleasant. It's like sipping a swimming pool after a chemical incident. No natural smoke, all chemicals. It tastes awful. Please, please, please bring back real Lapsang Souchong. I know Twinings are trying to cut costs, but this is an insult to customers and if they continue down this corner-cutting route, the will swiftly lose their reputation. I'd rather pay far more for real Lapsang.”
