“The Pi 5 is much quicker than the Pi4 (an increase of approx. 3x raw speed and data throughput) and just as easy to use and work with. “It is basically just an upgrade from the Pi 4 I have already and am very happy with. Only four issues I can think of, and my comments on them. No line out socket - but I plugged in a USB sound card and now have both line in and line out. Obviously you can also use bluetooth too. My monitor has hdmi but no speakers. Same fixes as for the Pi 4 - use a buetooth speaker or headphones. The really nice cases are advertised at very good prices now, but not when I ordered my Pi. I will end up having nice case and two heat sinks I will not need when I buy the nice case. Raspbian works well with both 4 and 5, but you have to install Gnome over the LXDE desktop version. Installing on the command line version did not work for me because I could not get the x versions of the desktop appear in the list of desktops Other operating systems for Pi 4 don't work on Pi 5. And I had a problem with Armbian and Ubuntu on the Pi 5 I am still working on fixing.”

“Arrived earlier than expected, which was a bonus. Well packed to protect the contents. Very quick and easy to setup what I needed - a headless operation and Pi Hole. Both a working very well indeed. Raspberry Pi 5 is very quick indeed - almost equally my x86 desktop.”

“Faster but much hotter than rpi4. Really requires active cooling, sadly. None of my power supplies would give the required power - including beefy and new chargers like the one for new macbook pro. 5A at 5V is not commonly supported. So to anyone else buying this who also thinks "surely one of mine will work", you might want to add the official charger to your order.”
