“The laws of electronics and the open nature of the Raspberry Pi ecosystem means that you can of course use any device that provides 12 odd Watt at 5 volts. Using the official supply removes any compatibility worries and supports the Raspberry Pi foundation. No more dreaded lightning bolts on startup or desktop popups about poor power. Given the proliferation of merely good enough third party supplies, it is difficult to source the official ones. The Pi Hut is about the only reliable and accessible retailer left and therefore also worthy of your support.”

“As with all of the official Raspberry Pi products with which I have experience, Excellent fabrication quality. However as feedback rather than complaint this would be so much more useful PSU if there was an in-line power switch. I am aware that such PSUs can be obtained from other sources, but the "official" label on products does add more confidence in the quality of products.”
