Not yet played with RPi 4 yet! Awaiting PoE shield to allow power up by netgear switch.

I've been running OMV on a Pi 3 for just over a year and while it was functional it didn't see much use because it was so slow. USB 2 and the 100mlMb NIC really hurt it as any kind of NAS or media server. The Pi 4 resolves all outstanding issues and really is the perfect device for network storage. It's cheap as hell and it works great. Paired with OMV and an 8TB USB 3 drive I now have a network storage server that is capable of upto 100MB (yes that's bytes) transfers and the new CPU can easily handle streaming full 1080p content with zero issues, heck it even handles X265 files with no issues at all. Got NGINX running and serving webpages, MINIDNLA for my media streaming, Transmission for downloading files. This £50 device is capable of doing everything a £500 server would do and is probably the best purchase I've made this year. My only minor problem is it runs HOT!!! 70°c isn't abnormal. I've ordered some heatsinks which should help and I believe a firmware update is coming to address the heat issues in the future so hopefully it'll get fixed fairly quickly.

This is an amazing pi. Loads of cpu power, ram, usb 3.0 support, poe and most importantly the USB type c supports OTG!! So you can power your pi and SSH into it all over one USB type c cable. The WiFi card also supports some interesting features for those in the know. All in all a great pi and they still offer a cheap version that's accessible to all. I really think everyone complaining are a bunch of hipsters with over inflated egos. If you're concerned about usb type c support then maybe wait a bit for the hardware updates before buying one but honestly most cables work fine and I've not experienced any issues using high quality cables with it. There's a great article on this that Google will help you find if you're worried.

Bought a RPI4 4gig. Pretty amazed by the speed. It actually makes sense using it as a client for my Office365 tenant. Well done!

Having reliability issues with WiFi & Bluetooth. Official case always causes overheating when closed. PI4 often overheats even when case open. Fan on order expected soon.
