4GB RAM and gigabit Ethernet lend itself really well to boosting the OpenVPN server throughput and local processing.

... literally! It needs active, and/or passive cooling. Perfect performance at a very good price.

It's a Pi - it works, nothing more needs to be said.

I purchased a 4 Gb model and fitted it into a Flirc case, it looked very smart on completion. Setup was very easy using a Noobs micro sd card and everything seems to be working correctly. I initially connected it to my 4K tv but found all the text too small. I did make a number of adjustments in Raspbian and also the Chrome browser but decided in the end to use a dedicated 20” monitor which was a lot less hassle. Excellent value for money, I look forward to learning more about Raspbian and how it compares to Linux Mint.

Proper low end desktop performance from such a small device, its truly amazing how much has been packed into this board for the money. The only Achilles heel is the SD card performance that isn't really the pi's fault but something to bear in mind so using the super fast usb 3 ports for storage may be a better option. It does run hot when under full load but there are many cases and heatsinks that offset this modern issue all processors suffer from.

First pi i've ever used and it is crazy powerful for such a tiny thing. The FLIRC case gets warm mind you so i wouldn't use it without some sort of heatsink. Quake 1 and Quake 3 on raspbian are great although i really got it for evaluating it as a device for porting our windows software to, however as of 2019/10/08 windows 10 iot is not available yet.
