With this and a Lime SDR Mini I have built the BATC Portsdown TV Transmitter, until the RPI applications like this required expensive custom hardware.

The display is great, if you want to run your rpi with a specific application. It is small, so you don't want to work on it but for little tweaks it is alright. I run my user interface in kiosk mode on it and therefore it is perfect.

It's a great screen, very clear, decent viewing angles too. Setup was very easy. Only drawback is the resolution could have been higher for that price but I think it's reduced because of hardware limitations (I think there are only 2 mipi channels on the DSI port which limit the available resolution). The standoffs could have been a couple of mm shorter too to squeeze out some more space. Great product however and I will be buying more!

As a beginner to the world of the Raspberry Pi I bought the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ together with the Official Raspberry Pi 7inch Touch Screen Display. Wiring the two together presented no problems but it was impossible to start the Raspberry Pi using the touch screen since I could not input the necessary instructions because the touch screen was itself inoperable at that time. So I had to buy a separate keyboard and mouse. Not a good start to using the Raspberry Pi. Why is this not mentioned in the sales description? I then found it impossible to input the EduKit 1 Python programme worksheets using the touch screen feature. I had to revert to the keyboard and mouse. Again why is this basic information not made clear in the sales literature and worksheets?

Once I worked out how to rotate the image 180 degrees and fitted a frame, it was perfect.

Good quality display easy to setup. Black border on the long side is not symmetrical, so making it look good in portrait orientation requires some creativity.
