PiHut gave me excellent service and refunded a defective One M.2 case I'd purchased previously. Having already bought an M.2 SSD I couldn't find a more attractive solution, and having read great reviews of this case, I decided to give it another try. This time, all is well. I found it much easier to have a proper USB3 cable on hand so that I could load Pi OS from the SD card with the M.2 slice separated but connected by my cable - also easier to troubleshoot as the slice could then be connected to a separate computer. It does get quite warm, which is the case doing its job dissipating heat well, but that's not really a problem in autumn/ winter now we're putting the heating on!

Pros: Working like a charm with RPi 8GB + 128GB NVME + ESXi. Cons: You have to unscrew the bottom bit each time you need to access the SD card. Does not work with HyperPixel4 Otherwise a cool and neat case

Really well made and practical case. Bought along with the SSD and makes the Pi a nice little desktop computer. Like the way all the connections now come out of the rear of the case and that it has normal size HDMI sockets.

After reading an article in Practical Wireless about the case, I decided to order one. It is absolutely superb. When used with a SSD drive which fits internally you have a really great unit.

This is a quality bit of kit. Very well made, great SSD support with the m.2 adapter - also note that you can plug the base adapter directly into your Windows PC if needed to flash the SSD.

It's a solid little addition to the Argon 1 case. It adds maybe 15mm of extra height to the case and takes up one of your PI's USB 3.0 Ports during operation. I'm using mine as a boot drive for a homeassistant install - so far so good! And should be much more robust for consistent reads and writes compared to running from an SD card There are a couple of things to note however: - It covers the SD card slot completely when installed. This isn't an issue for my usecase, but i'd imagine it may be for others - This does NOT support NVMe drives, only SATA - Burning an OS image to the SSD was a bit of an odd task. I do not have an M.2 to usb caddy or adaptor other than this case. So, I had to adapt the female USB A port on this device to male using the included adaptor, and then run a USB extension to my PC. It worked fine, but i kind of expected a standard downstream connector like a micro USB female port or similar so that the case could be connected to a PC for imaging using a standard cable. Without a USB extension i would have had purchase a USB A to USB A cable which exist, but are not common at all, or a second USB to M.2 Adaptor just to be able to use this USB to M.2 Adaptor. (I'm sure theres a way to burn an image to the disk using the PI itself to avoid this, i just didnt consider that as i'm not running Raspberry PI OS, seemed silly installing an OS just to install another OS) Overall very pleased, however. I'd definitely recommend the upgrade if you have an Argon 1 case
