I like this little thing very much. I use it daily and I also have 2 more media center systems that I don't use anymore.

5 stars as (1) cheap credit card sized Linux PC which can also be used as a media centre or control robotics, and (2) huge array of information on line to get you started and Raspberry Jam meetings around the UK. This is my 4th Pi - I'm using them for media centres, robotics and to just play!

This is my second Pi, and probably not the latest. Media center for the first usage, Dns and VPN server for the second one. The Pihut delivered it fast and well shipped, that'is important for those fragile components. You made the Pi accessible. awesome !

This is the question most people ask when I tell them I bought one. The truth is that the possibilities are endless but that doesn't explain it. To be more specific... for those asking the question - The Pi is a very small yet surprisingly capable computer with a heavy leaning towards learning. Just one possibility is that it can be used as a Home Theatre/Media Streamer and Ambilight controller. (this is what I used it for) and another is that it can turn a standard flat screen TV into a smart TV with internet access! The downside is that its not just 'plug and play' you have to do stuff to get it all working but generally there are great instructions available on the web and that's why I love it. Ambilight is a technology I believe was first developed by Philips that basically adds led lights to the back edges of the TV. These leds throw light out behind the TV (in sync with picture changes) that soften the usually high contrast between the normal bright screen and dark background behind the TV. Unlike its big brothers the little Pi has GPIO ports that enabled me (after connecting some wires) to control a strip of led lights where each led can have its colour and brightness independently controlled and synced with a movie. The rest was about installing the software to make it all work... and it works like magic... as a bonus it can be controlled as a stand alone colour changing lamp from an app on my Android phone! For more information google RaspBMC Hyperion iBeLight Boblight and XBMC My next project is to convert my USB printer to a WiFi printer and I think I can achieve this with the even cheaper Model A Pi because I wont need an ethernet port.

bought a bunch of stuff, pi, case, usb hub and managed to get my complete home theatre setup from a hulking pc to this in a couple of days. xbmc, spotimc, tvheadend, dvd drive, all working perfectly. hey, the menus are a bit slow form time to time but the picture and audio are smooth....very happy
