These prawns once you have removed the heads and tails are smaller than the ones I purchase from my local fishmongers at a fraction of the price. The cost is very expensive compared to the locally sourced ones. Taste wise no difference to the grey prawns. They are frozen too which does tend to break down the cell structure of the prawns and not suitable for making into Chinese Dumplings and refreezing raw once being minced. That's a real deal killer, as is the price and I got them on special offer too! I would have saved £5 per kilo buying it locally. They would have been freshVery poor value. I wont be buying these again.

Hello Himanshu I would like to put you right about a couple of things. 1 The prawns you selected are our most expensive prawns of their kind. Their price is high because they are a) wild and b) MSC certified. For these two reasons, they are not comparable with any prawn you could have bought locally. You say they taste the same. But taste is subjective. However, the above two matters are objective. You could have chosen our much less expensive farmed prawns. I am sure you would find these superior to your locally bought prawns. And they are larger than the MSC prawns and I would expect, larger than your local prawns. 2 If you believe the locally bought prawns are fresh, you are mistaken. You cannot get fresh king prawns in the UK. 99.99% are imported from abroad, frozen. However, many of them are sold defrosted, as if they were fresh. Alistair Blair

The prawns from The Fish Society are absolutely fantastic. This is my favourite online food store by far

I needed to make lobster ravioli and prefer to use king prawns for mousse filling rather than scallops as I believe they add more flavour. I also like to make tempura prawns and tom yum soup. I would usually buy a small pack of raw shelled king prawns from the supermarket but these caught my eye. I was happy that they came in the shell as the shells can always be roasted with brandy and used to add flavour to bisques and stock. As they are frozen you can use as many as you need at a time which makes the multi pack excellent value. The best thing is the size and quality of these beauties. Absolutely superb and highly recommended
