“I'm very happy there is an option now to have herring while I'm not in Holland, and because of that I'm not complaining too much, but you wouldn't get away with selling them in a shop there. The cleaning could be done more careful, there are still bones and rough bits of skin on the fillets and I tend to clean them a bit more before I eat them. I do appreciate having that option though.”

“Not as strong tasting as I remember from the street stalls in Amsterdam, but adding a bit of salt helps. Probably perfect if you are serving to Maatjes virgins.”

“Having lived in Holland I regularly eat maatjes herring. I ordered a small pack to test them and was pleasantly surprised. They certainly are very like the ones in Holland and I will certainly order some more.”
