Crayfish looked great and tasted fine. Unfortunately, not much left to eat after extracting the tails

This was brilliant! It was very much clearance and I got a truly random selection of things, but SO MANY THINGS! This was such great value for money -- the scallops alone were nearly worth the price -- and I think I got another 5-6 items included. I'm not convinced TFS is particularly competitively priced on their main selection, but I'll definitely keep coming back to their Clearance deals. If you're an adventurous cook (or simply love all kinds of fish), these clearance deals are just superb.

The fish collars were amazing - full of delicious meat & easy to cook under the grill. I was horrified when I first saw them but now they must be one of my favourite cuts

Steer clear. I may have been unfortunate but I got Herring Roe that you have to rinse and rinse and rinse and over a day or 2 but for nothing. The flavour was bland and the texture tough. I took the time to split the 500g bag into 50g portions (as it's only me in my household who likes roe) and I had to throw all out. Unpalatable.

For salted herring roe I have tried the "soak in water" approach but the taste did not quite click for me. So I made a dip out of these inspired by sea urchin paste and it turned out incredible. You need to ad something with a smoky taste (in my case some smoky onion relish), a bit of Dijon mustard for bite and then some mayo and dill. Its bril on hot toast.

I was a little skeptical when I received two bags of salted herring roe, I’d read the reviews and wasn’t sure what to do with them… I called TFS and they advised. I soaked in slightly salted water because I’d read to do so, rather than in plain water.. I refreshed the water and again added salt and left in the fridge overnight, but to be honest for my taste one soaking would have been perfect, as prefer slightly more salinity. With regards to eating these they are pretty much the same as the little eggs you find on sushi - but with flavour! I have been eating them as they come, however I think they would be nice sectioned into little pieces and used in the way you would use any caviar.. would be good inside sushi, also on scrambled eggs or a Japanese omelette. Good with rice and salmon also.. if you don’t like caviar or perhaps sea urchin, you’ll find this too unusual.. but if you’re experimental you’ll enjoy this! The crunch of the eggs is satisfying!
