“My first time trying these. I've read about them but had never seen them anywhere. I had a look online to find a recipe. Very simple cooking was needed. I've got to say even though I'm not a very squeamish person the look of these is a little off putting. I expected them to have a hard shell and the papery "casing" "skin" was quite strange. Along with the shell like tips it's a weird little critter. I think I overcooked them a little bit but the flavour was still absolutely beautiful. Sweet, fresh, mostly tender little wiggly pieces of flesh. They were a nightmare to pick out of the "skin?" and I'd like The fish society to send round a slender fingered barnacle picker if I have them again so I don't have to use my big clumsy old sausage fingers on such a delicate job. I don't understand why there isn't a gooseneck barnacle takeaway on the corner of every street across the country because people need to try these!”
