“I was one of the many who were left high and dry by the MCE collapse and close of business on 31st Jan. I had to re-arrange insurance to run from that date and I did so with Devitt, with no issues initially. However despite assurances to the contrary, MCE didn't bother sending me proof of my 9+years NCB, and despite contacting them on a number of occasions to explain the situation, Devitt went to the point of almost cancelling my insurance because I could not provide this proof. I eventually spoke with a helpful person at Devitt, who simply contacted MCE directly for this assurance and the issue was cleared up. Incidentally, she is the reason that I have rated 4 stars rather than 1 or 2 - up to that point my correspondence had been effectively ignored and I had the feeling that I was dealing with a completely automated system, rather than human beings. The collapse of MCE was well known and publicised and many people were in the same position as me - other insurance companies, looking to capture this business should have been prepared to be more understanding about the situation people had found themselves in. However Devitt did come through in the end - or rather one of their employees did!”

“Three weeks after taking the policy, i received a letter stating that my policy would be cancelled as i didn't send documents they requested. I still have not received any request for documents of any kind.”
